Return of Reckoning

Log story short- own an iMac- usually play via bootcamp- HDD is damaged- cannot reinstall bootcamp until I get my HDD replaced-
Currently trying to connect via vmware fusions 30day free trial but cannot get past the "logging in" screen. Has anyone else running vmware encountered this issue and found a solution?

I'm running it in Parallels right now and am having the same issue; keeps failing to login to server

If you care to install NMAP for Windows, my post here may be relevant; You can use nmap to test your connectivity to what I assume to me the authentication server.
