T2/T3 Bolster

Something is clearly wrong with it, I'll point you to the images below. This is the damage of a R20/21 Engi (similar RR) in Obliterator set and green gear from the RvR vendor on a R19 and 24 SHs.

The damage the Engineer received for comparison:

Their mitigation is minimal, probably because weapon skill value skyrockets under bolster. Even ignoring the mitigation values the damage of the abilities alone is crazy. Not just Crack Shot but Hip Shot and Gun Blast as well. The damage received on the other hand is minimal, since I was sporting around 70% armor mitigation at R20 thanks to the bolstered value of Flak Jacket, in addition their abilities themselves do the tenth of the damage mine did.

Mind you this was not just against these two characters, it was pretty much anyone I encountered. Granted I didn't fight anyone near my level.

Judging by my experience in the last few days of RvR in T2/T3 I would say that there is something wrong with the bolster scaling at the moment. Since I haven't tested any other careers in this tier it is possible this is only affecting Engineers due to the interaction with Improvised Upgrades. Can anyone contribute their observations? Is my character bugged?

Maybe the value of buffs is bolstered too, like flak jacket being twice as strong?
Have you done the math for armor and checked .getstats with the value of armor you should theoretically have?

Flak Jacket value get's upped to 504 armor atm. I haven't checked any armor value and right now it's normalising around level 22. It's not that big of an issue since there's a possibility that all the people I fought were just itemising/speccing/playing badly.

What's more worrying is that my damage was insane.

Edit: Bolster tells me I'm getting bolstered to lvl 39. Which could explain the anomalies.

I imagine this combined with the fact that lots and lots of people in t2-3 are in t1 gear is probably what's happening. Big crits against almost zero mitigation. That's my guess.

Shouldn't their gear be somewhat irrelevant considering everyone should be getting bolstered to R39? Or am I alone in this and somehow bugged?

I could be wrong about this, but I thought their Armor was one of the things not getting buffed by bolster, while your ability damage from rank plus Ballistic Skill plus armor pen from Weapon Skill would be getting buffed from Bolster. Any Bolster they get to Toughness would kinda pale in comparison, especially for squishy classes. Very few in t1-3 stacking Armor with talis or pots.

This new change is VALUABLE, it will (and already has from the numbers i've seen) revive T2-T3 as a THING, we must just provide feedback and be patient.

And this is coming from ME, i am the LAST person on this server willing to agree with Azarael.

It seems that the bolster strength has normalised around level 26/27 on my Engineer, the damage I take is much closer to normal and the damage I deal has gone down a bit. This combined means that I can no longer solo 2-3 people effortlessly.

However my rank 20 Witch Hunter seems to be on the other end of the spectrum, at a point where my executions hit on cloth for less than the enemy auto attacks hit me. Strength is around 600 bolstered, armor pen around 40% yet the character itself does similar damage to that of Squig Herder pet.

This unfortunately isn't an issue of "git gud" as the character seems to have retained damage of T2 from before the change, has decent gear and the damage of the abilities themselves have nothing to do with skill.

T2/T3 Bolster is very much out of whack and needs refining.

I still remember getting literally butchered with my back then lvl 24 We by a lvl 16 kotbs. My ego is still under the shower, crying.

I got killed as BG by a lvl 20 engi with bolstering (it was Highpass). Stats ~70+% armor but only like 50dps decrease from toughness.
I ran at him (1v1) He just sets up his Turret, (I believe it was bolstered to lvl 33) and he Facetanked me. Well... <10 seconds later he had 25% HP left and I was shot to death, even with my Selfshields and additional toughness buff etc... The turret is fu*king ticking with minimum 180(already minus Mitigation) at some salvo and up to 250 with the other turret attacks + its like a chaingun lol... Add all his own attacks on top of it and voilla (vs Heavy Armour).... People say "Magus is better overall cuz maaagic damage...) You don't need magicmushrooms as Engi.

Now I totally understand, why in lower Tiers every day some Destru's scream: Devs are order Biased. This aint looking right :-P
(Aside that, I dont think like that, but still Engi looks freaking overpowered in lower Tiers! Almost as fu*ked up as AM/Shaman AP drain lowskill- I hide at WC-Guards if i mess my #easymodegameplayup)
