Checking Out RoR

Hi everyone!

Lately I've been feeling the itch to play WAR again. I really liked the feel of it, and especially the RvR. I never reached end level in the original game, but I still had fun just leveling and doing the T1-3 RvR. So, when I found that some people brought back WAR, I thought I've gotta try this out again. Big thanks to the devs btw, you guys sound awesome!

So, I've got the game ready, but now I can't pick a career to play! They all sound so cool, except maybe White Lions (sorry White Lion players! :P) Does anyone have personal recommendations on a career to play? Maybe one that has an interesting playstyle or cool looking abilities? I played a KotBS before, but I don't think I was playing him right. :?

Also, how's the faction balance, does one side need more help than the other? Any roles especially needed? These may factor into my decision.

P.S.
How's the server's pop doing? Should I expect to not see another player until I reach a certain rank?

You'll see people all the time, and the first RvR area usually has a couple dozen people going back and forth. Don't forget to queue for the PvP Scenarios for some quick action as well.

Faction balance is always a tricky question. Ask either side and they'll tell you a different story. :)

Thanks for the reply. That's good to hear about the population. :) Looks like the factions are pretty balanced then? That's also good, though also makes choosing a career harder. :P

Yeah, we can all throw recommendations that suit our tastes at you all day long, but in the end, it's helpful to figure out which faction/role/race you want to be. Your first character may not become your main either, it's good to play around with different classes. Have fun with it!

Fair enough. :)

I guess I've always enjoyed ranged dps/support. The problem I have is all the classes sound interesting. Like the others said, I'm best off just trying some of them.

Also, are the dps specs for the tank/healer classes viable? Or, should I just pick a pure dps class if I want to do damage mainly?

You wont be a full dps but it can work.

healer dps spec is viable to the extent of small group (duo/trio) roaming, tank dps 2H spec in pretty much every case bar perhaps swordmaster/ironbreaker inferior to SnB dps spec
