Zealot defense

Hello there.
I've read here sometimes that the possibility is given to make a zealot relatively tanky - means:
2,x armor, ~7xx tough, ~8xx wounds, critimmune etc.
How's that even possible?
ATM i'm in my startergear (ruin, tome-unlock "the winds impervious", epic-weapon's) - what should I aim for to reach equal/similar stats?

Use Mercenary set. Stack toughness gems and renown. Use selfress mark. Toughness + wounds rings and should bring you there. But you gonna loose on heal crit wich is the best possible stat for ZE so i don't recomend it.

I don't know where you read that someone can get those stats with current gear lvl but it is 99% false

Also what poster above said , even if you by any chance manage to get ur wounds OR toughness that high you will take a heavy hit either in ur crit,anit-crit or armor.

he essentially has 600 toughness and 600 wounds here , demonic fortitude, which he references, is a 3m CD 1m duration buff (that can be shattered) and you quite often if not always use it on others . I wouldn't count that in ur overall defense pool.

Wounds, CW2, futile strikes and armor talis with merce set. You can heal relatively well with low crit so it's not the end of the world imo.
Thats what i use anyways so it must be the best option on the market :O

The better you are at possitioning at any class, the more healing/dps you can go.

Full Merc set(x5 +21-+23 tough talis)
SC weapons(x2 +22 wounds)
X2 winds impervious(No WordBreaker, Spirit resist)
Tough/Wounds purp Inf Tali
Genesis Frag
Brigands Cloak
Elf INF belt
RR spent on CW3, FS 1, Spiritual Refinement x2.
Buffed: 600 tough, 6k wounds(Before Demonic Fortitude, which is a is a 1min ability with 1min CD btw.), chance to be crit 0.4%(3.2% unbuffed), 7% healing crit, +11 ap per sec(w/o tactic proced), 2300+ armor with 800 pot(2500 if you go 3p winds impervious, but you lose 24 WP/24wounds from Genesis frag).

Positioning matters the most, but between that, Embrace the Warp, some clever Detaunting, and PROPER use(IE don't use it on CD..) of your AoE punt, and you'll be damned hard to kill.
EDIT: you can stack toughness even higher if you want, via RR or tough jewlery, but you really need resistances. Play around with your build a bit. Find what works for you.

Oh that's funny... yea, my brain thought 2min, since that's what the CD timer "starts" at when you activate it... 2m59s hehehe... Brain Fart
