Return of Reckoning

I have done this a few times on my main without really knowing the mechanics. Was trying to take another group through and we couldnt get the hang of the "heal" mechanics. Seemed sometimes we could interrupt it via KD or taunt and others he just healed back to full. We would fight him for a few minutes straight and never got anywhere... So clearly we are missing something.

The punt mechanic is simple. I would love for someone to explain how they do this boss and EXACTLY how to counter the heal mechanics...

I have searched the forums and google as well but cant find a detailed description about how to counter the heal....

I was trying to do the same as you but without any success.

Cross guard
Pull to middle
First punt is within 5s
Main tank face it away from group
Additional punt every 32 seconds
One healer group cleanse
Other healer cleanse the group cleanser
Don't get punted off the sides

Group Cleansing, is number one, and interrupting using a taunt, or a kd or a kb when he moves onto his hind legs are the keys I have found.

How I tanked it as a 2h SM.

1. All party members on middle spot. All face dragon facing North, Dragon facing South
2. 1st punt - Immediately rotate the party to face South, rotate the dragon so he's facing north
3. Repeat stage 1 when you get punted again.

Tips.

- All party members have to stay in a blob.
- When hes on his hind legs, interrupt him with taunts. This will prevent him healing and cleaving
- Tanks must crossguard
- Do not rotate the dragon away from your party. Tanks will seperate and you'll just wipe from being out of guard range. Norkalli's advice above will get most pug parties killed.
- Crit reduction tactics and skills help immensely. He has a very high crit chance.
- Watch the red circle under him. Angle yourself in the direction you want to be punted.
- Dps the **** out of him. 2nd tank can spec offensively provided they have high enough parry.

Thanks for all this guys. Maybe our issue was DPS... but the punts were not the issue. We fought him for several minutes positioning and punts were fine... We had a WE and Mara for damage. Both 40, decently geared.

Whenever we would DPS him, he would just heal back to full. What I dont understand is his heal mechanic. I know the animation of "standing on hind legs" but watching his HP even before that, he was healing...

Like I said, I have done, and tanked this boss many times. Never felt that hard but after trying to guide a group through it myself, it felt there was something we were missing on interrupting the heals.

boss's standing skill is frontal big dmg cleave attack that you can interrupt.
then after few seconds he uses pbaoe attack that heals him.
it's similar with healer M2 Rampaging Siphon or AM/shaman aoe lifetap. it's range is point blank aoe and large.
I don't know how to avoid his heal attack.
so hunting tactic is high dmg. deal more dmg than his heal.
2h dps off tank is good option. not sure WP is must.
with average dps you might have to endure 10+ KB
during the fight there are moments he heals less but not sure about it.
making comfortable environment for dps to focus dmg rotation is key I think.
good positioning and interrupting from tanks, good heal from healer
and good dps from dps.

U can try 1 tank + 3 dps
Interrupt when his 2 legs are up (taunt prefered).

and dps dps dps dps dead.

Try to keep your group under his tail and belly. Only tanks face him. He heal x person in front of him (I think). But not to far coz you will be punted in opposing direction than tanks. And if Dragon is not at the middle... You know what will happen
