Thoughts on this build for SM? This is what I was thinking of doing when I hit 40.

SnB Deftard comes down to selecting defensive tactics and adjusting your talismans/jewelry accordingly, no switchup of mastery required.

I'll 2nd the KaineVual build. That's what I use. Does decent damage, and I still have some CC/KD/KB/guard utility

When you get the spare point, I'd recommend getting Phoenix Wing as it now does spirit damage, and is pretty effective - when combined with PE - for cleave aoe.

Good tip, i just figured id post a rr40 build to start off with. Does PW also result in more stat steal debuffs?

Yeah your rr40 build is the one I'd have posted, best one. Well I would assume so because I get a lot of PE procs, but I've filtered out the stat steals on my buffhead due to spam.
