Insta-Gibbing discussions/proposals

One thing that is encouraging about this project is the Dev team's willingness to hear and consider suggestions and proposals from players. Working together to find a balance both in-game and on the forums. Nothing frustrates a player more in-game than being insta-gibbed (from 100% health to zero health instantly or near instantly without the victim having a viable counter) aside from possibly being insta-gibbed by the terrain in ROR. What is most discouraging to me on the forums is the knee-jerk reaction of some Devs and some Players when it comes to balance discussions. The best example I can give recently was the "Transferred Focus: DoK Melee Healing" Proposal. viewtopic.php?f=97&t=22176
The discussion was moving along and being validated or debunked in civil tones until BAM! a dev comes in, writes 3 lines, and makes a decision without any further discussion. End of Story. He ran two, albeit correct, scenarios in which the proposal could have been abused, then made a blanket statement and locked the thread.
What he did not do was allow anyone time to dispute his assertions or propose anything else to eliminate such potential abuses, and that's what I feel is the worst part about this project. Many topics are debated and shitposted about for weeks on here and it eventually winds down to where everyone can see what needs to be done (or at least a majority) and it happens. In some cases, like this latest example, there is simply an iron door slammed on the discussion and those interested parties are left out in the cold with plenty to say, but no avenue to speak their ideas.
I would have like to seen the Dev make his points about the potential abuses to the change, give his reasons why he feels this is a bad idea, and then allow those participating to provide a reasonable remedy to those issues.
For example, in this instance, a blanket +20% healing from ALL HEALING SOURCES ON ALL PARTY MEMBERS would be majorly OP and I agree with the Dev that abuses would run rampant; however, a +20% to healing to all party members within 30 feet from heals cast by the proccing DoK, would simply negate the -20% healing every dps healing DoK receives from slotting Murderous Intent. At that point, the quality of healing goes up ONLY by the number of affected players within party within 30 feet (i.e. other MDPS and Tank(s)) and is the proccing DoK's heals are simply brought back on par with the DoKs "normal" healing level.
So in conclusion, I would like to propose that we put an end to the Devs slamming the "iron door" on discussion threads. Give your reasons why you want to close and lock the thread, and give at least 24 hours for anyone to reasonable dispute or offer a workable remedy. Allow the Devs reasons time to be reasoned out or debunked - even if it takes a few days more for everyone to come to the same conclusion as the Dev. I feel this type of insta-gibbing a reasonable and civil discussion is one of the biggest reasons why players who may contribute more, tend to take a "whatever" attitude and part of the reason why the frustration level for both players and Devs can be so high at times.
