Ursine - Fiction, fact and strategy

After I don't know how many tries and looking at other groups fail I thought I would share what I have learned from this boss cuz he sure is frustrating. I don't have access to the code so I may be wrong on some points, but here is enough info for you to beat him.

Fiction:

-You NEED a DOK or WP to beat him
-Water heals him
-Champs heal him
-Must fight in the cloud
-Must not fight in the cloud
-Cant use dots
-Can only use dots
-Cant use debuffs
-Gork says stop heals him
-You need all ranged dps
-Everyone must be close
-Everyone must be far
-You need 2 tanks
-You need to guard the MT
-Heal debuff solves the boss healing issue

Fact:

-Cleansing is the most important aspect of the fight along with positioning.
-You can have only as many players near the boss as you have healers able to instantly cleanse, otherwise he will heal.
-You can use whatever forms of dps on him.
-Only the tank should be facing him, otherwise it is harder to keep the group up for healers.

Strategy:

-First kill the champs on the right side and pull the boss in the water on the right side as far from the rest of the group as possible and have the tank turn him away from everyone on the ridge.

-Second, pretty much every 5 seconds or so there is something to be cleansed on the tank (and whoever is close to him). If you do not instantly cleanse it, he heals. I was a shammie in my group and i would purposely wait for my cleanse to be up and I would cast it on the tank, group heal, hot, ap drain (or ere we go or gork says stop) and wait again. Rinse and repeat. Only our tank was next to the boss, the melee dps were throwing axes at it cuz we were not able to cleanse the melee dps fast enough. In other words, it is easier to kill him with all ranged dps, but it is possible to do it with melee dps in the group but it is slower. Keep in mind that whoever you do not cleanse will be AP drained so an aoe cleanse is helpful, but not mandatory.

Bottom line is that you need healers that are quick at cleansing and everyone should stay far unless you can be cleansed instantly. It is not a dps race. We took him down very slowly but steadily.

Hope this helps you.

I can't speak for everyone but my group just went in there and tanked and spanked all of the other ones without issue.

Already made some adjustments to the bear, should be less punishing on the heals early, they get stronger as you bring him lower. Need to check on the range, not sure if his bite is set to aoe, but it probably shouldn't be.

Am i the only one who considers that middle finger aimed at melee to simply be bad design? The bloody bosses should be difficult on their own merit, all this bear does is punish groups for their class (not role) composition.

I mean what's next? A boss that instakills everyone in a 1000 yard radius if the group facing him contains an orc? Or a boss that refuses to die if a crossdressing shaman with a party hat doesn't stop dancing like a ballerina around him through the whole fight? Or a boss that can only be damaged by zealots, but only drops white lion healing spec gear. (Yes, you read that right, a 2H handed axe with 120 willpower, it's happening)

I knew that it would end this way, i knew it since my father caught me standing over that raunchy book behind the barn while i was praying to Tzeentch.

Take me to the rabbits Shalk, i always wanted to see the little bastards one last time before the end...

After identifying his self healing while under the effects of infectious bite, and realising, that by positioning at range we could avoid this debuff as it seems to have a limited range, when then dps'd him until our dps (range) had burst morals. After this point we got him to 50% or so and then went ham.

We also were able to solo tank the boss, so for melee out there, you can get in groups, but patience in this fight is a virtue.
