Starting screen pink and cant create character

so i get the game downloaded and done but then it has a problem with a few missing files but i get a friend to give me correct files but then i start the game up and all the textures are pink except the terrain and also when i try to create my character none of the characters appeared and i tried several times is there anyway someone could help
