Preorder items

When I learnt that Games workshop and mythic were attempting to release a competitor to World of Warcraft, I think I might have got a little *too* excited. I watched all the podcasts and streams and couldn’t dip into my wallet quick enough when companies started selling the special edition box set.
When it arrived and my version was installing and patching, I spent my time spooling though the exclusive art book, and comic and covering my miniature of the orc warlord Grumloc and Gazbag and when I got online I got access to exclusive content. I can’t remember what they all were, as the developers were generous. I think there were unique heads for out characters or some such.
Can anyone else remember the list of goodies that preordered players received and does anyone know of any way that we can get access to the items again on the ROR servers?

There was a little bonfire that restored health when not in combat which sped up out of combat regen a bit.

These have a permanent place on my bookshelf. Excellent art books, lots of stuff made it in game that you haven't seen... yet,

Got mine a month late, still liked some of the cosmetics... and only greenskin I have EVER and will EVER paint.
That said, some of the skins and concepts from the 1 book is a good resource for the devs to use and glad at least 1 guy working back stage has 1 and I don't have to send Nath scans from my copy... yet.

I still have 4 unopened, sealed Collector's Editions sitting in my wardrobe. When WAR originally came out I was sure it would be the next WoW, so I bought 4 collector's editions at launch to re-sell later on for mega profits (plus one for myself).
Alas, it was not to be. I still don't understand why WAR failed. At launch in September 2008 there was something like 1 million players and 70 servers if I recall correctly. Less than a year later the pop had dropped to something like 50k with less than 10 servers open. Why did everyone leave? What a shame.

It wasnt exactly smooth sailings all the time, server issues and balance issues were pretty common as i recall and patching/changing things was a less of a smooth process then we are used to today.
Also, other major MMOs chipped away at the more classic MMO feel (tab target, dps/heal/tank triforce etc) such as Guild Wars 2, which also had a RvR component, came out around the time of WAR shutdown i think.
If only WoW would have gone away, the market would probably have looked alot different, imo.

The game came out too early to be finished and too late to keep people from playing the WOTLK expansion from WOW. Plus: this game is pvp-focussed while most people in wow engage in pve. Also, it aims more at adults than wow. Everything is darker and less sparkly. You won't see flying bananas as mounts in WAR. If you wish to maintain a large customer base, you need to catch them young - that's why McDonald's got a playground and the Happy Meal. Or just look at Fortnite.
One of the basic preorder items was a ring that was mailed to you as soon as you created a character. It had +1 to each stat, was bop and min lvl 1. That item alone was worth the preorder.

I was just looking at the box again myself and thought It would be rather nice to see if my old Dwarf army was still in hiding on the attac. Think I am going to relive my youth a bit and paint them
