Logging out of combat to avoid death

Hello everyone,

I've encountered someone in T1 lakes today who was logging out of combat immediatly as soon as he realized to die. Happened about 10 times - same person. Is logging out of combat to avoid death a thing to report? I am just curious how he / she did it - i recieved no server message like " disconnects uncleanly from the server" nothing. In this special case it was a sorc and as soon as i catched up while she was trying to kite she instant disconnects. She used a chat macro to most likely offend i would say - a shame i can't read messages from the different faction. But the way she used the ingame emotes showed what kind of person this might be.
In fact i think he / she shut the client via alt+f4 or something. The wierd thing is that she was back on 15 secs later - everytime. Keeps on spamming chat macros and emotes to offend. its not a whine thread or something, i just want to understand how this is even possible and if thats a thing considered not to be legit. Ists not a common thing to do ( at least i hope ) since i discovered such behaviour for the first time.

Thanks for reading,
To this special sorc, i'll farm you later.

Yes ive seen it a few times but its either just a sore loser move or a wierd bug perhaps? Anyway its not a big deal since that kind of players wont stay long.

With all the problems in this world this doesn't really amount to much, does it? If they're doing it on purpose, and you are not seeing the 'disconnected uncleanly' message, then you should record it and send it to a GM.

Otherwise, /shrug and move on is my advice.

With all the problems in this world, we should probably shut down this server and go do something to make them better.

But since we won't, would be nice if devs simply added a 10-20 second period where if you lose connectivity (or take a SC pop for that matter) you are still killable. Already have to deal with this logging out anyway and it solves the problem pretty neatly.

But why? To appease you?

Short answer, yes.

Long answer, because it is an abuse of a "mechanic" in the game to prevent your opponent from collecting renown and rewards and should be viewed as cheating.

If people are quitting their game - whilst in combat - and you are not getting rr/medals (and the message isn't appearing), then it sounds more like a bug than anything, tbh.

Why would you punish people for taking a SC pop in the lakes?

I am flexible on that one but for the sake of consistency it would make sense. And I say that as a person who has escaped certain death multiple times by being chased across the zone by a group/warband and getting a lucky SC pop to magically teleport me out of there.
