[Zealot] DPS questions

What makes a Zealot bad at DPS other than being a healer first? From the limited information I can find here that is applicable to the current state of Zealot, there is only one spec that is essentially effective as a healer and no other real uses for the class that don't seem to require a significant amount of gear and renown investment. It seems like a class like Zealot could perform other functions well. There are a lot of interesting spells in the the other trees that to me seem like it could make for a pretty fun single target spell caster or debuffer.

Would it be more effective for classes that are perceived to be hybrids to have a better delineation between DPS and healing? Like having Divine Fury remove healing completely if you are going to be DPSing or have harbinger of doom do the same and just be a passive buff that is applied if you choose to go a DPS route.

Would you mind being a little more specific than just AP? Do you mean AP usage is the problem?

I'm not really going to gear up a DPS zealot if it isn't worth it. Hence the reason I am looking for input. It is already a bit of a pain leveling and doing anything in the time zone I play in.

Worst case you got a good healer for when your group needs 1

You can gear up a healing zealot and push a button to instantly be a geared up DPS zealot.

Zealot should never be as good as pure dps when doing damage, but zealot brings unique utility that DPS cant match. And weak heals on the side.

Too bad the best tactics and abilities for DPS are spread out high up in all 3 trees (heal debuff on crit DD, 50% heal target on DD, AoE DD channel spell.) So you have to pick and choose what type of DD role you want to fulfill as you can only have 2 of the above max.

Add in demon spittle aoe unique armor and corporeal resistance (but terrible range for a squishy) and you can be devastatingly useful in warband play, but utterly useless without protection and organization around your strengths.

Probably something like this for warbands, best build will be at rr70 when you can also have winds of insanity for countering pushes.

FYI the damage on rituals tactic is actually 10 feet, not 30. Barely useful to puddle fort doors, but useless elsewhere.

Yes. AP on dps Zealot is a pain.
Laurentz has tried everything but with always the same result. You often run out of AP before the end of your channeling abilities when you try to setup a rotation.
Zealot also doesn't have an AP tactic regen on dps, all are on healing.

INT isn't an issue as you can template with stuff that has both INT and Willpower and easily reach 1k INT (our Willpower).

WoI -> 120AP
CA -> 78 AP
SoR -> 120 AP

You don't regen AP while channeling and can't quaff a AP pot either.
