Band aid for SCs?

As the stability problem is mostly caused by too many players in one spot at the same time, how about reducing the total number of players for each SC until the problem got fixed?
Also guess that lots of players would appreciate the 6 vs 6 versions and it might help with the balance problem, too. Facing 12 or facing 6 with 3 players is much of a difference. Unless, of course, that would also scale down.
Just my two cents. Don't know whether that would be really possible or not.
And if anybody else had that idea before: I like your idea

6v6 Gates of Ekrund could/would potentially be fun but I say that from the PoV of someone who enjoys 6v6 so it wouldn't suit all tastes
But it doesn't _seem_ like the throttling is limited to one area as suggested in another post, i.e. whether you're in the capital city next to the mailbox or GoE in the middle of a big melee - the big lag spikes seem to pervade across the server simultaneously.
I wonder if the SC's are actually handled as separate instances? or just like any other Zone and handled along with all of the other server traffic?
Would this help alleviate the problem - possibly? but with the advent of higher level cap, more abilities, new group/warband/aoe effects - I would imagine it would just be ignoring the elephant in the room that will come and ROFLstomp us in a big keep fight

ok say that you get 6v6? and one team is all like healers or rdps and the other has a healthy balance of tanks, mdps/rdps and healers
there would be no way to make it fair
scaling down sc's would anger people like me who dont care for 6v6

Can I ask then, if the lag is indeed caused by a large group of people in the same area firing off abilities, why is the resultant lag felt server wide and not isolated to the problem area?
The problem doesn't seem to get much better as time wears on, so is it something like resources not being relinquished and only seems to get better after a restart
In line with this, immediately upon restart we aren't seeing hard lag upon the first few hectic SCs

Overload caused by the ability system is not the only reason there's lag.

For sure, any chance of a restart before primetime please ?
(assuming the lag is still as it was in the NA afternoon)
SCs are almost unplayable if it's still like it was earlier
