Ive been reading and have found some great information.
BUT
I wanna clear view of what Im getting myself into.
I as an old skool high elves player and was going for the Swordmaster of Hoeth look.
Im almost lvl 23 and really enjoy the class flow.

Am i having delusions of grandeur in hoping to ride out the 2H build and still be useful...ish?

Ive read plenty of posts regarding this and have found mixed reviews.
gear/rr so on so forth. I dont wanna be the Chosen of order who went 2h.
I like the rotation as it reminds me of Daoc pally chant rotating.
In the end id obviously go what ever is best for my group/guild.
but that 2h sword so hawt.

Small scale (group play) : 2h.
Large scale (warband play+) : SnB.

There's a caveat to remember - when people say 'warband play' they mean that the tanks are there to stand in line, shield front and receive damage. And as the shield is pretty much mentioned in the job description, it is considered superior spec.
It doesn't mean you can't be successful using 2h build in large-scale combat, it just means you'll catch a lot of flak for not going meta. Where meta pretty much is 'tanks are Hold the Line bots'

Even in small scale the 2-hander SM is of questionable value. Yes they will do more damage than any variant of an S&B SM but to do so they are now neither a tank nor are they a dps.

Meanwhile as a S&B you have an extra interrupt to go with your silence, knockdown and a mid-to-long-range punt to create separation on between a guarded target and his guard. Only thing a DPS might pick up for extra utility is the AP drain.

Basically you play 2-hander SM for lore and S&B to be effective.

There is a tendency for wbs to bomb aoe. Therefore 2h SM doesnt fit well. But in scenarios and small scale there is no more enjoyable once you master the rotation you can pretty well kill anything with ease. Just need to backpedal when necessary. I got round the wb problem by making two i have 86 rr cc guard bot SM currenty working on 2h for fun Scenarios.

Avelina 86 rr SNB SM Pavalina 34 2h SM

Personally I think, there is a good role for 2h Swordmasters in WB Play. The main Problem is, that it requires specifically built groups. You normally take as mentioned, mostly S&B tanks to hold the line. But if you build a fast paced skirmish group, they can be, paired with a white lion for example a great tool, to burst down specific targets in the enemy wb. It just is not done as often, as it requires more complex and more accurate teamplay as the wb aoe bomb zerg, which is called efficient.

SM is super strong on small scale fight especially duo play
A special build still in WB can have good help and buff on grp and even spread buff on WB which IB or KOTBS cant replace
