Groupwide FFA mode.

Howdy,

So. I can't think of a good name for this idea, hence the dumb title(FFA stands for Free For All btw). But, this game has ALWAYS had discussions about 3rd factions. This server, has pretty much always had discussions about Xrealming(at least in the 5ish years I have been here). I would like to propose a very different styled system, that wouldn't be a solution to either perceived issue(be they real or not). Instead, it's just a way for players to continue to get plenty of fights in ORvR, regardless of which Realm they are currently logged into. As well as opening up interesting match-ups that aren't currently possible. This isn't original, or new. I do believe it is slightly more thought-out than what I have previously heard/read.

Most important question would be is this even possible to Code. So I will start there, Would it be possible for a 6man/12man/WB to Flag it's self so that BOTH sides count as enemies? Similar to the Dueling system, but towards EVERYONE. I would limit this to Groups, simply due to the fact we already have a dueling grounds, it's really pretty, and we also have a duel system inplace. No need to let various solo classes farm lowbies/PUGs/stragglers even easier.

I am thinking something working like this;

  • Each T4 Zone would have an Altar, group lead interacting with the Alter, while your entire group is within 50ft, would flag your group as Red(enemies) for both factions. You must be in a group of at least 6.
  • After Flagging, every player has their appearance altered to signify their being outside of the Realm. Something simple, like a Shade/color adjustment. Largest part would be altering Mounts, as at maximum draw distance this is the simplest way to determine Friend or Foe.
  • Flag will last until players leave that zone via SC, Book, Scroll, /stuck, log-out, or release after death.
  • Upon a group being Flagged, a RvR chat message will be sent informing players of the group leaders name/Guild similar to Ram spawning now.
  • While Flagged, players would draw aggro from ALL NPCs. WC Guards, Keep Guards, etc. There is no Safe Haven.
  • If multiple groups are Flagged, they will also be Red(enemies) towards each other. There are no Allies.
  • Capping a BO will turn the BO to neutral and will not produce Supplies. Players will be able to capture supplies dropped from previous BO ownership or Dead players. Each captured supply would provide XP/RR/Inf but no resources to either side.
  • While Flagged, players will benefit from AAO of Order/Destro, whichever is lowest. They will not earn Fort reservations, nor do they count as being in the zone towards Destro/Order numbers or AAO. Their deaths will provide standard rewards as if no AAO was present.
[list}While Flagged Chat messages will be restricted to /party, /warband, and /say with no PMs to help prevent extreme griefing. I do believe they should have a true xrealm /say channel however. God only knows if that is possible to code.
Why would players want to do this?

  • There's no one to fight! Xrealm, Zerg, or go play something else? Nah, Evil Shade time. At least you'll get someone to fight.
  • Because you want to set-up a 24v24 order/order or destro/destro.
  • Because you want to run a 6man tournament, and have a true single victor.
  • Because your Guild is so badass, that it can take on the Entire Server, and Win. Or not.
Why would this be a terrible idea? Outside of code adaptability, time, desire, etc on the part of the Dev/GM team, which I leave out because frankly nothing we say will change any of those, and nor should it.

  • Potential for extensive griefing. However, since this is a PvP game, getting farmed/griefed is kinda part of the experience.
  • In a 2 realm game, if enough groups decide to go rogue, the campaign might stall out. But, my opinion is that as long as people are smashing skulls there is no problem. Go semi-AFK farm zone flips on another game :mrgreen:
  • You believe it shouldn't be allowed in ORvR or the game. Valid point.
  • It might break the game balance, nevermind the campaign. If there is never any reason to swap sides, and you can get a fight regardless of which side you're on, then having massive a Order zerg, with a bunch of rogue Order groups and barely any Destro could become the norm. Note; Not saying Order zergs more than Destro, was just an example. I don't have an answer for this, other than if players are given the choice to play the classes they want, and they all choose one side, that would be good supportive evidence of something at least.
  • Put down the spliff, you've had enough. Possibly.
  • No one will use it, because it's a stupid idea created by a stupid person who writes stupid ideas. Complete waste of time. Again, possible.

Quick point, from a Lore perspective Pirate groups of technically Evil or Good races fighting against their species are in not only the TT(notably 5th edition with the Dogs of War), but TW:Warhammer games as well. There's no reason in Lore that a group of any of the classes couldn't turn rogue. Note, we're NOT talking about dwarves grouping with orcs. This is strictly Order OR Destro going Free-For-All mode.
