renown distribution

I hadn't played RoR in a bit until a few days ago, so please don't throw poop at me, if my question turns out to already have been addressed in some other thread.
...So two dudes are being jumped by three other dudes from the opposite faction in ORVR. I see that from a distance, and, being a healer, start helping the friendly ones by healing and throwing occasional slow DOTs on all three gankers.
My guys kill one enemy, then another, then the first one gets resurrected and they kill him again, then the second guy again (he too got revived), and then they kill the enemy healer, and the combat is over.
That's 5 kills in which I [more or less] participated. However, I don't get any experience, renown or influence, although I would in the original game.
Is it a temporary state of how combat shinies are distributed in the game, or is it how the developers believe it should be?
(please note how I'm asking for an actual RoR dev's point of view, and keep your fantasies and ranting to yourselves)

Consider it to be a temporary state. However the "temporary" word should be taken rather loosely - it can take some time to fix it.
A good advice is to participate RvR in parties or warbands because you recieve renown for death blows delivered by your party or warband.

You shouldn't have healed them. You should have stolen the kills.

I see a lot of Choppas actually doing this

Probly has nothing to do with the renown gains. This is how pug Choppas play (at least, the good ones); without a pocket healer or a guard they are extremely squishy so they gotta be careful. Charge, try taking one or two down, pull back and hope someone heals you, wait a couple secs, repeat.
Bad Choppas will just charge, do as much damage as they can, overextend, die, and then blame the healers.
