Server latency from ... (gulp) ... Australia?

I found a thread about server latency from way back in 2015 that says there's no plans for a US server and that latency should never be higher than 200ms "unless you're in Australia"
Unfortunately .. I am in Australia.
I have rubber banding issues when fighting enemies as an engineer .. they start to chase after my turret but then snap back in front of me suddenly once my ranged ability fires off. I haven't measured my ping but it feels like it could be over 200 or even as high as 500, just from the way the game feels for me to play right now
Wanted to ask if there is still just one EU-based server? When I signed up I got a confusing message about a server wanting order players, and I thought it sent me to a different server but now all I can see when I press "servers" is Martyr's Square so I guess its just that one EU-based server for now?
Any other tips that might improve my latency here? I know I could run an ethernet cable through my house so I'm not running on wireless and it might help a little but I'm not expecting that I can do much else since the server seems to be EU-based, can I?
