Make War Crests bind on account so you can trade it between characters making gearing alts a bit faster.

I genuinely like this idea. allows for a veteran player to bring a different class to the table when the class structure is b0rked by having too many of x online too. you can progress whatever you want, however you want, no matter what you're playing, so to speak.

Only ever play your most geared out character, and then give free loot to all of your alts. What could go wrong?

It's not free. you earned it by playing the game.

I mean, it isn't fair to a newcomer anyway if you weren't aware...

Not going to happen for obvious reasons.
Play the char you want to progress.
Furthermore, long time players are least affected by the recent changes.

Personally, I can't see a solid reason why it's a bad idea past the initial knee-jerk reaction of "the strong get stronger" - which I don't think holds up past some scrutiny of how it'll work. I suspect it just tugs at the emotions of people who've been here a while because if they crawled through hell, so must everyone else.

Let's say a decked-out RR 85 did siphon their crests to a lowbie toon. First of all, they would have to actually play the lowbie to get them into the gear - taking out a toon who is RR80+ from the lakes and bringing in a fresh-faced, wide-eyed RR60 or some such. While they might have greater gear than the average RR60 they are still not an RR80 in sov when playing their alt. In an odd turn of events, it becomes fairer for the noob because the RR85 is now playing their RR60 instead.

Meanwhile, a noob player is playing their one toon anyways, focused purely on them - like they would've been either way. Being unable to play the way you want is a barrier. Making the game more alt friendly can only be more beneficial to the game, can't it? Not like you can play all your own toons at the same time.

What is the negative way this plays out as an example, please?

If City fights would yield a unique type of War Crests that wouldn't stack with the rest of War Crests and would be transferable to alts then it would've been a great quality of life change. And an extra motivation to play cities with a properly built team consisting of geared characters.
Premade warbands then wouldn't have an excuse that they lost because someone's friends wanted to leech in city premade with their lowbie alts wearing a conq/vanq mix et cetera.
