Question about Guild Leadership loss

In the past I used to have some guilds on the ROR server, but I lost them due to being offline for too long & making the mistake of having other people than only myself in the guild at the point of taking a break from the game.
So for this reason I wonder, what is the time limit of the guild leaders absence before the leadership is potentially passed on automaticly? (I don't even know why this thing still exists in the game, it should not be allowed to happen at all)
Reason I ask this is due to some circumstances, of which I've decided I will be playing considerably lot less & would rather not worry about losing my guilds again.
