Return of Reckoning

I was in the Black Crag PVE area earlier with my buddy( the PVP part of the zone was not active), were both mara's, just doing some farming. We weren't flagged PVP, had been in the PVE area exploring/killing mobs for a couple of hours. A witch hunter named xxxxx popped out and killed me right before I engaged a mob, killed me, and then killed buddy. My question is how is this possible? At first, I thought maybe I had AOE'd him while he was in stealth and caused me to go PVP (which shouldn't happen in PVE but is all I could think of), but then upon reviewing the video my buddy took of the incident, I was attacked while standing still and not in combat and no mobs around me. This has never happened to me in RoR PVE in the years I have played this game. Is this a new thing that's happening to people now? Are we now fair game to be killed by witch hunters anywhere in the game?

Maybe he believed in the power of friendship and op and his buddy did not? Seen enough cartoons to know how this ends!

One Mara in Anni and the other in Devastator. No surprise they die to a well-geared WH. It is a surprise to be jumped in PVE. Or is it?

That WH was in Conq gear lol he is in my guild

Maybe you were flagged for PvP because you crossed RvR-Zone without noticing. Happens easily in BC.
Or you hit the wh a few moments before and he just waited for a better opportunity to strike.
Should be noticable on the video if you get RvR-tagged during the ambush. If not you probably were tagged without noticing.

What does that have to do with popping out in PVE and killing people?
Is it legal now to kill people in PVE?

So if I hit a stealthed WH in a PVE area, this can cause me to flag myself?

If you are tagged for PvP, yes. At least as long it's in an area that is "legally" accessible for both realms.
