Patch Notes 12/11/2022

Weekend Warfront: Assault on Black Crag

Image

Karak Drazh was once among the mightiest Dwarf strongholds of the World Edge Mountains, but was taken by the Greenskins during the Goblin Wars. Strategically placed at the western end of Death Pass, it guards the approach to Karak Eight Peaks. Today known as Black Crag, it is the most powerful Orc stronghold.

This weekend Assault on Black Crag will be the weekend warfront from 12:00 on Friday to 12:00 on Monday Altdorf time. You get +50% XP and Renown in the Black Crag Keep scenario, and extra rewards from completing the event tasks.

Group XP/Renown/Influence

The way XP, Renown and influence is split among group members has been changed to encourage grouping up. Previously it was split <amount> / <members>, this has been changed to <amount> / (<members> ^ 0.75).

So for example the split of a kill that would have given 600 renown total in old vs new systems:

- 1 member: old 600, new 600
- 2 members: old 300 each, new 356 each
- 3 members: old 200 each, new 263 each
- 4 members: old 150 each, new 212 each
- 5 members: old 120 each, new 179 each
- 6 members: old 100 each, new 156 each

Note that this only applies to renown that is split between group members. Static renown granted to players is same as before, for example zone locks, BO captures, end of scenario ticks etc.

New Player Experience Quests

A new quest called 'Tokens of War' has been added in each chapter 1 area. This quest tasks players to do two easy Public Quests and awards them with War Tokens, afterwards directing them to the appropriate merchants in the capital cities so that new players can learn where they can exchange their War Tokens for armor or potions. This quest was a community suggestion, we thank you for your suggestions to help new players out.

Dyes
The dye database overhaul is ongoing, though a large portion of changes mentioned weeks ago have gone into effect. Minor changes may occur in the future. Please note, no dev hours went into this - this rework was purely database work.

Dye Rarities
Firstly, dye rarities and sell prices have been cleaned up. Before dye rarities had no system and were arbitrarily assigned, with some dyes having multiple items in the database and each one set to a different rarity. Likewise before most dyes sold for 1 brass (or didn't sell at all), while a handful of dyes sold for silver and the rare few sold for gold. Below is the new system.

- Uncommon Dyes consist of all dyes from the database color range of 1-175. These dyes are worth 20 silver. In the future we would like to reintroduce the dye-making crafting profession (as part of the apothecary) which will craft these dyes.

- Rare Dyes consist of the end range of Mythic dyes that were available at launch, and these dyes will be in the dye interface. These dyes are worth 50 silver.

- Very Rare Dyes consist primarily of the dyes Mythic introduced in the 1.4 patch, along with a handful of dyes which sold for gold earlier, and some custom RoR dyes. These dyes are worth 1 gold. While some of the dyes that previous sold for 2 or 4 gold will lose value, the overall increase in dyes that sell for gold should offset this loss. Previously many of these dyes were unobtainable by players in RoR, whereas now they will be obtainable via 'end game' content (that is, PvE and PvP content for lvl 40 players). More on this below.

- Mythic Dyes will consist of dyes that are only available during live events and cannot be acquire otherwise during the year. These dyes may be available once a year or once every 'x' years depending on how often we bring the live event back, so they are the rarest dyes on the market. These dyes will have no sell price at the vendor for two reasons. Firstly, we wouldn't want you to accidentally sell back your rare dye, and secondly some of these dyes are purchase-able with event currency (such as the Feast of Shoika dyes) and we would not want event currency to be convertible to gold by direct means (how players choose to value them and sell them in the in-game market is their choice).

Purple Rarity Dye Renaming and Availability
Many of the dyes introduced in the Mythic 1.4 patch have been renamed from their 40k names to more Fantasy appropriate names. We understand many players cherish the names associated with Citadel paints, but we felt it was rather strange to have names from another universe (or is it from the inside of a chaos giant's eye?) in the Warhammer Fantasy environment. The old names of dyes are noted in their descriptions for those who cling to the heretical past. Every 1.4 dye should now be somehow available to players (whereas before most were not.) Below you will find a list of the new dye names and where you can obtain them.

- Butcher's Pass - Big 'Un Green (formerly Camo Green), Dwarf Flesh (tragic, we know), Tin Bitz, Swamp Green, and Go Fasta Red have a small % chance to drop from player kills during this fort siege.

- Stonewatch - Thunderer Grey (formerly Boltgun Metal), Burnished Gold, Frostbeard Green (formerly Catachan Green), Dwarf Bronze, and Mithril Silver have a small % chance to drop from player kills during this fort siege.

- The Maw - Dark Flesh, Changer's Herald Green (formerly Orkhide Shade), Fate-Weaver's Gold (formerly Tau Sept Ochre), Mindfire Red (formerly Baal Red), and Charred Flamer Flesh (formerly Leviathan Purple) have a small % chance to drop from player kills during this fort siege.

- Reikwald - Unterbaum Grey (formerly Codex Grey), Pyromancer Orange (formerly Macharius Solar Orange), Altdorf Red (formerly Mechrite Red), Imperial Navy Blue (formerly Mordian Blue), and Griffon Sepia (formerly Gryphonne Sepia) have a small % chance to drop from player kills during this fort siege.

- Fell Landing - Ice Blue, Ironfrost Glacier Grey (formerly Space Wolves Grey), Sea of Malice Grey (formerly Astronomican Grey), Hekarti Purple (formerly Hormagaunt Purple), and Naggaroth Abyss Blue (formerly Necron Abyss) have a small % chance to drop from player kills during this fort siege.

- Shining Way - Elf Flesh, Sea Guard Turquoise (formerly Hawk Turquoise), Shining Gold, Cothique Blue (formerly Fenris Grey), and Tiranoc Blue (formerly Asurmen Blue) have a small % chance to drop from player kills during this fort siege.

- The Necropolis of Zandri - Desert Yellow will have a small % chance to drop from player kills during this event. Additionally, Bleached Bone, Nehekharan Asp Leather (formerly Snakebite Leather), Nehekharan Sun (formerly Iyanden Darksun), and Khemri Brown are set aside for future LotD content.

- Mount Gunbad - Five new dyes have been introduced to this dungeon and are tied to the repeatable quests associated with this dungeon. They are Night Goblin Red, Squig Orange, Night Goblin Yellow, Night Goblin Flesh, and Night Goblin Black. All colors are based on citadel paints.

- Bilerot Burrow/Warpblade Tunnels - Bubonic Brown, Rotting Flesh, Vomit Brown, Oozing Boil Yellow (formerly Gretchin Green), and a new color 'Sewage Green' are tied to repeatable quests associated with these dungeons.

- Bloodwrought Enclave/Sigmar's Crypts Though no 1.4 dyes are related to these dungeons, we would like to mention that the 5 dyes that previously sold for gold are associated with the repeatable quests for these dungeons. These colors are: Skull White, Chaotic Black, Ulgu Grey, Blood Red, and Blazing Orange.

- Hunter's Vale - Kurnous Green, (formerly Dark Angels Green), Vale Doeskin Beige (formerly Kommando Khaki), Sapling Bark (formerly Calthan Brown), and Deepwood Shade Green (formerly Knarloc Green) are tied to four new repeatable quests associated with this dungeon. Asrai Blue (formerly RoR Cobalt Blue) can be obtained in the green bags of the PQ associated with this dungeon.

- Bastion Stair - Molten Iron Yellow (formerly Sunburst Yellow), Bastion Stair Granite (formerly Charadon Granite), Skull Lord Ivory (formerly Dheneb Stone), Khornite Flesh (formerly Ogryn Flesh), and the new color Bastion Stair Crimson are tied to the repeatable quests associated with this dungeon.

- Future Content - Skryre Glow Green (formerly Scorpion Green), Hellpit Flesh (formerly Tallarn Flesh), Blighted Marshes Brown (formerly Devlan Mud), Warpfire Green (formerly Thraka Green), and Toxic Green are reserved for future content. Keep the tinfoil hats off, despite the names of these dyes playable skaven are not in the future.

- Other - Several other name changes are noted: Altdorf Guard Blue (formerly Ultramarines Blue), Old World Iron Grey (formerly Adeptus Battlegrey), Warp Gate Black (formerly the texture eating Badab Black which no sane person uses).

Dye previews of the 8 new dyes are available here at the bottom.

New Renown Rank Milestone Bonuses

- Renown Rank 70 Milestone Bonuses have been added to the game (retroactive)
- Renown Rank 60 Milestone Bonuses have been added to the game (retroactive)

The final major Renown Milestone Bonuses are here, they’re customized per faction, and they’re retroactive!

For characters that hit Renown Rank 60/70 going forward, you’ll get a letter in the Mail that begins these short questlines.

For players who have already achieved these, head to the Records Keeper in your capital city of choice, buy their quest item(s) for 1 gold, and use it to begin the quest.

With Renown Ranks now covered from 10-80, this completes all of our planned Milestones. Given enough time and the right rewards, we may return to these in the future for players who go choose to go above and beyond RR80.

Until then, we hope everyone enjoys this new system and that both new and veteran players find it helpful!

Quest Quality-of-Life Updates

Destruction: The repeatable Quests for Bilerot Burrow have been moved to the new NPC Ecibius the Warpedmind, who is located much closer to the BB Dungeon Entrance in IC.

Additionally, players can now take the repeatable Stalwart Soulstone quest for BB/BE from either Ecibius at the BB entrance, or from Tivlas the Kul at the BE entrance.

Order:
Lector Hans, who has the repeatable Stalwart Soulstone quest for CnT, now also exists at the entrance of the Sigmar Crypts Dungeon, so players can easily pick up this quest if starting their run at the Crypts. (No need to go find him under a tavern first.)

Additionally, Gothard Alexander, who has the repeatable kill quests for Sigmar Crypts, has been moved a few feet over and can be found just before descending the stairs to the dungeon entrance.

Bug Fixes
Image
- Fixed an issue where new dyes introduced during Daemon Moon Decaying were not showing their names when a player dyed their gear these colors.

Awesome changes!

... wow I somehow never knew that!

IMHO there should be no difference (or way less then even now) when running in grps in terms of XP, RP, INF gain to encourage grouping up.

On the Dye update:

Is it intentional that some dyes available since 2019 are now gone (Cardinal Red) from the "Very Special Dye Vendor" and will they come back ?

Did you remove the only black (Order of the Black Gryphon) that was available from NPC's for gold from the dye interface?
Or is that last one, a bright green bugged and it's supposed to be a black?

There is an epic quest line with like 20+ black dye as reward. Oh well, I should check whether those dyes are still there.
Dying is no option.
