Well, usually the rift-bot was a nice addition to the WB. I guess with current gtdc its kinda bad though. Engie should be fine...but it's a rare sight to see an engie to magnet people.
Dosent matter every class have specific skill scaling, to have similar result across all the table one examp is mara that has see its skill scaling nerfed down a year ago or whatever. It's an nternal balance of the class.

rift was a tactic in oWBs before morale bomb nerf happened, when you wanted to line your shots just right and wipe two thirds of the enemy wb in a brilliant swipe.

but then morale bomb nerf happened (not a good idea imo) so now we don't have much use for engi/magus rift since not only is there no big finisher to line up for but you're still giving free immunities and hindering the ST group.

It really depend the prob is all magus spec for max dmg potential meanwhile rift is still both a very good def and off tool but the build for rift have less range and less crit. And require do warlord which ppl arent fond of. Personaly i play it in that build and is way funnier. It"s true more choppa achive almost the same results (almost not the same) but thry are interruptable and they have less range. Magus / engi rift is more versatile...

Rift is very much interruptible, try taunting a magus casting it.
RoR doesnt deserve being taken seriously.
