Killboard: Support our support!

Hi all,

I would just like to propose a small change for the weekly/monthly killboard: It should also show the top heals and protection for the week/month, as we all know that without our tanks/heals the DPS would be useless.
These stats are already tracked by the game as we can see them on skirmishes etc on the killboard, so I can't imagine it would be too be a change to implement.

Let me know your thoughts.

Knut.

Healing and tanking are thankless jobs. No one ever says "good job" to a healer that kept a warband alive while they ran into the middle of the enemy. Or maybe that's just how it's gone with me so far.

Most likely because people hardly know who healed them in big fights and in fact it's their job to heal, as much as DD are supposed to provide kills. In small scale encounters, when you heal someone and save them from death, people often write "thank you". Same with revives.

If we removed Deaths from Killboard to try to incentivize something - not sure if it was more ungabunga fighting or bullying from bad KDAs - then why not do the same for more healing and protection classes. Cool idea, costs nothing, might work and if it doesn't, it has no bad effect.

In principle I fully agree.

But tanking and healing numbers can be fluffed and thrown out on cooldown just like damage.
So if protection and Healing was added it would most likely just end up being who is most time in bigger fights mixed with playtime.
On deathblow counter atleast the solo, or smallscale guys can somewhat compete if they have time available.

Guildkills is hands down the most important factor in my book, as kills belong to the guilds. The tanks and the Healers help provide the situations where the damagedealers can do their role.

If protection and healing became a leaderboard I wouldnt be against it, but it does make me think back on when Tanks didnt follow Bellow/challenge roation and instead throw it out early to fluff their numbers instead of being efficient with them. Same for Matyrsblessing inflating numbers at sieges so you dont get accurate stats of how stable the groups are in damage intake, midigation and recovery.

But anything to promote support and teamplay, big thumbs up!

in general support but yes protection is very easy to fluff, just throw m3 on a keep lord.i don't know if it would be possible to filter between rvr and scs but that would be nice. i remember the threads someone made a while ago where they'd managed to rank players by average dmg/kbs/heal/protec per SC

You have a good point, but somebody doing that just to fluff isn't going to get as much as an actually active rvr tank over the course of the month, especially as keep pushes are fairly uncommon in EU prime time.
