Hello all just found out about RoR.I did play the original and have fond memmories of it i though i should give this a try.
SO my question is what classes are on high demand right now? Preferably that are fun to play.
I am fine with any role and dont mind order vs destruction will propably pick the lowest population when i start.
Thanks
Hey there, welcome.
I'm definitely not an expert, having only newly returned to the game and not having a massive wealth of T4 RvR Experience, but I have seen a decent bit.
I think whilst there is a pseudo-mirroring of careers across the two distinct factions with some small nuance either side, it's not as easy to choose just one career that is in demand. Additionally, regardless of what you might read above or what people may tell you in game...
play what you want to play— I literally cannot stress this enough. There's no point playing something you don't enjoy.
I primarily play on the ORDER faction, as Fashionhammer is important to me and I like the Empire Career's drip. So I can only really speak to ORDER and you'll need to rely on someone else to inform your decisions for Destruction.
Small interjectory note: Faction Population Weights will really depend on your playtime, and I'd really recommend once you find a career you enjoy, stick with it with an almost single-minded focus- this game isn't friendly for ALTs until you get a Max RR character.
For Order at least in my playtime (I'm Australian, so definitely very off-peak) Bright Wizards are probably the number #1 most desired class. We have a wealth of Sword Masters, Slayers, White Lions, KoBS and especially Shadow Warriors. Witch Hunters are on the rise too.
The main reason I suspect for this is that all these classes "look cool/are drippy", which is perfectly understandable, but Bomb Bright Wizards are superbly impactful in Warbands.
KoBs is a fantastic shield tank and still has a LOT of utility with 2H, though, please don't think you'll do much of any damage as a 2H KoBs.
Alternatively, Warrior Priests are always in high demand for Warband healing, though you'll be relegated to Book or Shield spec mostly, Wrath (2H DPS spec) comes online decently, but much later (after collecting Bloodlord set at the earliest.) Shield Spec is very particularly for small-scale content, like 6v6 and PVE (It's king in PVE).
There is a particularly good Shield spec guide by @Rydiak (I believe that's how you spell his name) which can give you a baseline to embrace an 'up-close and personal' healer.
For my two cents, rock the Bright Wizard for a bit and embrace the ginger life-style.
Cheers!
