Return of Reckoning

Hi,

yet another returning player from the olden days here. Back in the day I didn't really ever invest in the PvE part of the game and and all I was doing was PvP/RvR.

I was wondering if its a viable option now with all the improvments to the game if there is a decent PvE experience in the game too.

Since time is a rather problematic resource for me and unforseen breaks during play time quite forseeable I would like to ask if there is any class (Don't care about the faction) that stands out doing PvE content solo.

I would choose Disciple of Khaine or Warrior Priest - use meele spec with healing for PvE and switch to full healer spec for RvR

It really depends on what sort of PvE content you want to do.

If you're talking hard content, then I agree that DoK or WP are your best bets. Medium armour, strongish damage and self healing makes for the best all-round combo for soloing hard stuff. I have a guildie that regularly solos GB on his DoK in order to farm purple seeds for cultivating.

If its less about hard content, and more about efficiency (e.g. farming PQs quickly, or grinding crafting mats) then you'll probably want to swing more towards melee aoe dps, i.e. marauder or white lion.

As the others have said above, I will echo also. Whilst I think even with limited time, you'd likely be best in this game doing PVP, as even with a strong PVE Career, you'll still need to find groups for end-game content.

However, to answer your question directly, yes, Warrior Priest or Disciple Of Khaine are PVE machines.

Can't speak to DOK as I don't play them much, but even with WP if you wanna do AOE damage you can pop Sigmar's Wrath and spam Smite for some very, very reasonable AOE damage (on a 60s CD)

Thank you for your input guys. I am quite surprised, since its what I seem to remember from back in the day. One thing though struck me a bit strange:
The mention of Marauder/White Lion being superior in PQ's... Don't they suffer from the lack of healing in those scenarios? I think Bosses in those PQs were pretty tough cookies for them, are they not?

Mara has monstro arm which comes with a powerful regen. WL has insane burst and can kill the mobs before they really hurt you.

For heros farming:

Dps DoK/WP


For butchering:

Marauder/Engi

Well, first consider that we're talking endgame here, and when it coems to PQs we're talking about efficiency, rather than difficulty.

So, an endgame melee dps like mara or wl will be able to stack a decent amount of parry (tho less than they could after the recent weaponskill/init change), their armour level will be high to decent mitigation against the majority of incoming damage. Add in a few items with hp regen, their own skills for healing/regen, hp pots and absorb pots......they can probably solo the majority of PQs. Maybe not the hard PQs at endgame, obviously not the ch22 pqs that now require a warband, but they will have enough to solo some level 40 PQs at a fast rate for farming war tokens or for scavenging / butchering lvl 40 mobs. I think they'd be faster / more efficient at this task than wp or dok.


(nb i also think a 2hander tank could serve a similar purpose. you get more survivability, but less dps. I think mara/wl would still be better in terms of efficiency and speed).

What exactly are you farming? Most of the time it's armor potion ingredients. The rest of the time it's absorb potion ingredients. In either case I'd take mara or white lion. Anything that does amounts of aoe damage.

Personally I can't think of a reason to, "farm," anything else. I have a spot to farm armor frags outside of dungeons, but the drop rate is so ass that it is a waste of time. Awl D best.

Chugging potions while farming, imo, can lead to farming not being as efficient. Those things aren't really cheap.
For consistent farming, either engi or mara, due to both having decent regen abilities (brutality proc and keg).
Farming elites/champions - wp or dok. Both can also farm aoe, but it takes longer (by spamming smite and soulfire).
Can also take a shot with Runepriest/Zeal as they have tools to be able to spam aoe abilities/self heal/have lots of absorbs, etc.
Tanks can also farm aoe. Kotbs/chosen through thorns/2h aoe abilities, others have aoe abilities as well. Heck, I remember when you could farm with shield black orc, by just constantly channeling can't hit me with loudmouth and stop hitting the runts.
Though keep in mind that with not-so-recent ability rework system, it's not so easy as it was before and might require you to have a higher lvl gear than you would expect in order to do it comfortably.
