Magus and Engineer.
Which one is better for solo?
And why?
I like to be tough with some self-healing.

Magus is the top tier of the foodchain i would say it's the best solo class for roaming at BIS. Engi can be good well any class at bis can do decent but Magus is the cream of the crop Pound of pound king of solo roaming. If i were you i would just make both to be honest and see which one you wanna continue after rank 40

Magus is second to am/sham in solo roam.
Magus gets wounds buff for healing.
Engi gets keg hit healing
Both have a lot of cc and require a lot of managing with their pets.
As always it comes down to player skill, setup, and gear.
Also Poster, you joined around the time I did, how do you not know at this point?

they both has their own strong and weak points
isten to you Yuluigi and try both!
My expirience:
Magus is little easier
He has all needed abilitys in Havoc (thanks to RoR banance team)
Aegis is easy to use
Magic damage is harder to defense against
Engi has more sustain (damage and self healing)
Faster burst against not-hevy armor enemys
and aslo he can use grenadir abilitys for killing tank enemys but it not so fast as Rifleman or Havoc burst
p.s. I want to hear Daewuur opinion!

My assumption is he will say something like, magus is better than/ easier , engi is more “fun” .

Well put! Also the engie range AA conpensates a lot.
I value Aegis higher than keg as you dont have to worry about staying in range/popping keg inside terrain or thro wall, and its not affected by heal debuff.
Magus gets m1 snare which helps with kiting a lot, but engi gets all the punts possible, so he can keep punting whole squads out of reach cant do that with magus.
https://youtube.com/shorts/R5SlT-5Jed8? ... wq76AvsXU6 like so...
But comparing both of my toons, magus has statwise huge advantage. They are both dps specced, but as i have to spent renown and gear to WS with engi (ok he is running ws spec, so might have overdone it, 800+WS), my magus has 100ish more mainstat (sofcappish int vs 950 BS ) AND 25-30%more crit also magus gets the crit to essential skills from havoc tree, where engi has to go all the way up to tinkerer tree+keep turret up to have the buff.
Thing that tips the scale really is the hugely satifying animation of engi hitting opponents kneecap with spanner when applying snare. Second only to BO's right in da jibbies

extra punt is a good point for kiting, you can use it instead of snare m1 ! and 100% disrupt/dodge help with hard damage ranges matchup

Not sure about WS stack for solo playing. You have 25% penetration buff for 12 sec (enough for cast), armor debuff on turret and good corperal part of damage
full WS is more about group playing with healer and etc
and 120/120 tactic is make engis main stat on 120 higher than magus
(it was no matter till all engis and mages drop insta pet tactic slot)
and also engi 15% crit tactic working for every three abilitys + AA and so this is really huge slot
Based on this I think both classes is perfect for solo playing! (not only magus)
Choose what you want friend

True, the WS stacking might be A bit outdated, but versus 6pc triumphant i didnt get huge difference on high ve build. 5 series of AA against construct with engi without buffs gave WS build higher dps but lesser burst (unsurprisingly) i have toned my ws down a notch lately.
As burst is whats needed more against shamans and WE's it might be better overall. Not huge difference tho. Tho without ws, if u fail to burst target down during the piercing rounds your dps will drop quite a bit as with ws build you are less dependant on that.
The crit tactic is affecting all abilities, but again you will be stuck with turret, and i dont think magus suffers too much having the crit tied to skills like baleful/withering dots, channel, both fireballs and mutating blue fire. As in st thats pretty much your rotation. Only glean, infernal blast and whip are really lacking the crit.
I agree, both classes are perfectly viable for soloing.
