DoT skills and avoidance meta.

Hey.
What i'm about to propose comes mainly from playing small scale, often with some less popular specs like hybrid RP or AM. I will give you an example of a skill that got heavily affected by change to avoidance. It's RP's rune of fate - as a 13p investment, it's a decent skill, however with 15 seconds cooldown its crucial that this skills hits, otherwise you're left without a powerful dot and heal. Changes to avoidance made it so that even if you stack high disrupt strikethrough, like 10% from tactic, 6% from off sov, ~9-10% from int, you still going to see this skill be disrupted quite often.
My proposal would be for single target DoT skills. If the changes to avoidances are to stay, that they apply with 100% rate, but only damage ticks can get blocked/dodged/disrupted etc.
I would like to know your opinion on this thing, how would that affect other classes and balance in general.
Either that or reduce the cooldown on some of these skills.

Dots are already extremely strong. Shaman (and probably AM too) can 100-0 you with 2 dots. 5 magus dots on each group member during a siege is a huge pain in the ass for healers.

Your proposal changes nothing, as mathematically 10% chance to disrupt an entire dot is exactly the same as 10% chance to disrupt each individual tick.

Each dot should be looked at on the individual basis. Is RoF underperforming? Move it lower down the tree then.

If it's mathematically the same, why are you indicating that would make Sh or AM even harder to deal with ? :D

To be honest i'm not even 100% sure how dots work right now, if they can get disrupted both on application and on ticks or just on application. But whatever it is, would you rather in 10% of your fights not be able to get your skills off and lose, or in all of your fights deal on average 10% less damage? It's that kinda problem i think we're dealing with.
The change im suggesting could of course only apply to single target DoT skills, so no guaranteed zillon of dots from AoE spams.

Some skills got hit harder than others with avoidance change and i think they would require some adjustment to fit back into the game. Example that i given (RoF) is underperforming mainly because of it's long cooldown and at least small guaranteed miss chance on application. I don't think if moving it lower in a skill tree would change anything, for the better at least.

You got me wrong, I'm not saying it would make shaman/ams stronger, I'm saying that dots already perform amazing so blanket changes to dot mechanics aren't really necessary.

As for your proposal, 10% disrupt means (on average) that of 100 spells 10 are disrupted, which is equivalent to 10% damage lost.

100/10 = 10

Calculating each tick individually doesn't change anything except, maybe, more server load because more calculations. Probably neglectable, but still.

10/10+10/10+10/10+10/10+10/10+10/10+10/10+10/10+10/10+10/10 = 10
