About Name Reservation system

I browsed through the recent posts and didn't find any related to this specific part of the latest patch, so here's my few cents.
I understand that being on a single server, name reservation is a sensible topic. However, I think the whole thing should be rethought. It was already annoying with the previous 1 year rule, but 6 month is way too short, even with the scaling reknown grace period.
Alot of people on RoR are veterans from live servers, they are not and won't be full time RoR players, but rather come and go. As for myself, I almost always come back to RoR for a few weeks / couple months every year. My character names are names that carried over from the live servers, I am deeply attached to them and I would probably just quit coming back if their identity is lost.
I understand that it can be annoying to have names locked on low level characters that are never played, or characters that were created once to test the game, but on the other side, characters who have history, reached lvl 40 and a decent amount of RR shouldn't be allowed to lose their identity.
In my opinion, the fair way to handle this is :
- Any low lvl character (lvl39-) that was not played in the last 6 months can be freely renamed.
- Any lvl 40 character who is bellow RR 60/70 can be subjected to the current rule, assuming an email is automatically sent to them when their grace period is about to end.
- RR 70+ characters should be protected from any rename.
Alternatively, live server allowed the use of special characters in names (é / è / ê and so on), bringing this back would allow people who really want a specific name to get it without stealing someone's.
