[Poll] Should solo players and organized groups be split in distinct scenario queues ?

Hi everyone,

I’m launching a quick poll to get players feedback :

Right now, solo players are frequently matched against full premade teams.

🔎 The goal of this proposal is to avoid forcing solo players into scenarios where they have little or no chance of winning, and to improve overall match balance and player experience.

I know there's this "solo skirmish" solo queue, but it's not working (3vs5, no healer on 1 side, ...).
It sounds like a really bad no-ranked small group feature.

👉 Please vote in the poll below – one vote per player.
Feel free to explain your choice or share your thoughts in the comments.

Imo when you solo queu you got paired to other solo players first 2 mins, then if not enough ppl you enter the premade queu but it open scen only when 1 prem + pugs vs 1 prem + pugs. And the system should not allow one side to got 2 prems.
So there will be much more solo matches and premades will face always premade. For the system to work you should queu only solo or full 6 man no middle ground

I would guess separate queues will make pops less frequent.
2-2-2 matchmaking was tried before, and the pops were abysmal. It is not like solo vs solo will make for an amazing experience, there are other factors that will tip the balance towards one side or the other. Just look at Solo Skirmish.
Premades vs premades (what is a premade in your view, 6 man or anything from 2 to 6?) will result in really long, or straight nonexistent pops. So basically you punish everyone that wants to group up in a….group game.
That said, i can understand the frustration of playing solo against a premade. I think more than anything, it is the type of the scenario that is decisive. In snowball scenarios like Maw of Madness, solo vs premade is painful. But scenarios like the old Thunder Valley, or Dragon’s Bane, there you can spread out more and negate the effect of a premade.

Regardless of how you will want to change the current system, someone will end up at a disadvantage.

Sadly players themselves are part of a problem. Why they keep queuing even though they know that there is premade? Just stop queuing. Don't feed, just leave SC.

I definitely choose the "No, but matchmaking should do more to balance solo and group players fairly"

By voting for the first option what can you get in return:
- a few hours wait for sc pop;
- after waiting too long, the organized groups will split up and be qq solo;
- what then? People will start crying that players will start grouping already directly in sc.
We already had a similar situation in the past and it was a very unsuccessful attempt.

The most important thing in any option is to remove barriers and add champs. If the map has wc in an inaccessible area (hill) you should add this option or move champs!!!

The best "No, but matchmaking should do more to balance solo and group players fairly". With some changes.
Matchmaking should try to select groups as close to ideal as possible but not so restrictive to avoid waiting in line an hour or two.
Add a ranked scs modelled table with a preview of what classes are currently in the queue (with estimated sc pop for each) so that if you have more characters you can choose the right one.

Premades should go against other premades. Add to that that the weekend scenario event should be solo queueable.

Devs have already tried a bunch of stuff, just like the options in the poll, in order to "fix" scenarios.

None of it worked because the population of RoR just isn't big enough to support more sophisticated matchmaking. Queues take waaaayy longer, players get bored and quit, which then makes the situation worse.

I also believe that premades DO get matched against other premades whenever possible. Its only when the number of premades is imbalanced that it starts matching premades with solos.

Theres also a part of me that wonders if I'm playing a different game to everyone else when i read these threads. I queue solo for SCs most of the time and find them to be pretty balanced. Yeh, it sucks when you've got 2 dps and 4 healers per group, and ur up against a premade. You're gonna lose. But most of the time its more balanced and you can have a good fight. I complete most weekend events solo queuing. It takes longer than joining a premade, but not much longer.

The only suggestion so far that I would like to see is a specific solo queue for weekend events. I know they still pop in discordant queue, but not with much frequency.

Ring event.
Pie event.

Famous for masacre of pugs by fullsov prems farming reagents. How many players left after those "games" in complete dissapointments from game? U tell long que will be coz low population. Maybe unbalanced slaughtering of every new player by prems cause low population? Maybe game should be challenging and fun? Not just mindles grind of stats and mats?

Ranked
Sc
Lotd
RvR

This are core parts of game and they must be alive, balanced and interesting to attract new players. At this point city dead, ranked dead, sc dead. RvR still live but have huge blobing problem, where comunity have only 1 solution to every problem - zerg. 3/4 of game just near dead and last agonizing.

Maybe thats the reason of low pops? People coming for fun, don't get it, and leave. Maybe its time to provide good quality of gameplay?

I tried to lure some people into game. After 40 they go sc and miraculous dissappear from game. Cos normal brain understands that what we have its something just wrong. Waste of time without any sense. Only those left who over and over ready to que into prems, dont read description of soloque or skills, dont use addons, pots, etc. And they taking hostages of que those who on last breath que sc in hope of miracle of that one good game in 50 wasted. How some ok with this i dunno.

Solos should be separated from prems - ranked must be reanimated. Games must have normal comps. If have problem with setup - make sc currency that can be traded between chars, so people log tank and heals were theres none in que but get rewards on needed char. Give solos place to breath and have fun, and end this unholy madness.

There already is a solo que and it seems to be mostly dead. Allow duos back in discordant and nothing else is needed. Discordant was working back when we had that. And from my experience there is no parity or increased quality of games in solo que either, one side will typically completely stomp the other.

I loved duo-queue! It was the most fun I ever had in this game.
