[Magus] Melee spec

I was messing with a lowbie Swordmaster recently and had great fights against a path of changing magus (got killed eventually everytime in 1v1 but it's ok).

While analyzing the 4 times he killed me I noticed something unexpected. His biggest damage components came from attacks that scale with strength (AA+Daemonic Maw) while he obviously has no strength on his gear: Should a caster be allowed to do so much "melee" damage to a tank ? Am I supposed to play with higher parry against him ? (applying Eagle Flight for example, RR in reflexes, etc.) ? Is all the shame on me because I play with low parry or even then such situation is not ok ?

As a comparison with my def engineer, on average "only" 10% of the kill damage comes from melee (while I recognize never spamming Spanner Swipe).

Pets AA is added to player AA in killboards. I always played melee/range magus at the same time, slotting 50% cast time reduction tactic with +15% dmg tactic when within 45ft.

That with bloodlord staff is 40% dmg increase, and possible to get to 55% with another 15% +dmg tactic. Anyways its always funny to get melee AA killing blow with any caster=)

I'm pretty sure daemonic maw scales from intelligence, just like spanner swipe from engi (direct mirror ability). High disrupt against magus, parry is pretty much irrelevant against casters. Spamming daemonic maw seems like a little bit odd rotation tbh :D Also magus auto attacks include pet damage, so there's actually very little damage that comes from magus str.

Makes sense. I didn't know that.

Ok, somehow I thought it was scaling from strength because not stated otherwise in the tooltip (as opposed to Spanner Swipe). That could explain why I took so much damage from this (and why I could have nevertheless done better with higher parry).
