Live Event: Seas of Slaughter

The air is heavy with the smell of plunder. Autumn harvests fill up port warehouses. Exotic goods sail into Old World ports before the winter storms come. The seas are full of vessels laden with goods, fortunes waiting to be claimed. So many opportunities for the Pirates of Sartosa to honor Jack o’ the Seas. Hoist the colors high!

South of Tilea, the isle of Sartosa serves as a nest of piracy. The isle is ruled by pirate lords, first among which is the Pirate Princess of Sartosa. The isle's location allows it to ruthlessly plunder trade routes across the Southern Sea, from the coast of Araby and Nehekara in the south to the Tilean Sea in the north, from the Black Gulf in the east to the shores of Estalia at the western end of the Old World. The dwarfs of Barak Varr do what they can to battle against the pirates of Sartosa, but they have greener problems on their horizon. Therefore, unchecked, the pirates of Sartosa cling to the shores of the known world, looting and pillaging throughout Autumn. Rum flows as freely as blood in the Seas of Slaughter.


The end of Autumn marks the high season for piracy, as merchants race to reach safe harbors before the winter storms. The Seas of Slaughter marks the time of year when the Pirates of Sartosa reap their own bloody harvest. Alas, you too are caught up in the winds of piracy. Join the fray as the battle for the high seas rages.

The Seas of Slaughter will start on September 26th and last until October 6th.


Rewards

Basic reward: [Cursed Clank], [Cursed Shimmy], [Cursed Karl], or [Cursed Guilder]- a pocket item looted during your pirate exploits. Though it bears a boon, it comes with a curse that will cost you.
Advanced reward: The Raider's Grog, a live-event slot item with a pilfer proc, because that's the pirate's way!
Elite reward: [x2 Potions of Acclaim], or a Sartosan Doubloon - a special currency item which you can use to trade in for a pirate-themed cosmetic hat! Cosmetic hat previews are available here. (This gallery will be updated as new cosmetic hats are added)

All Live Event rewards are only available from the associated heralds: Sofia Mortebacio in the Altdorf Docks near the Blowhole Tavern, or Giulia Feroce in the Inevitable City Feast Hall. 

Please note that cosmetic appearances are not yet equally distributed among races/classes. Our art team is hard at work to introduce new art assets, but the window between our Lost Vale launch in August and this live event proved rather short. We are extremely grateful to them for all they managed to do in this time. The intention is for every class to have available to them this year a bandana that has no renown restriction, a RR60+ hat, a RR80+ hat, and RR 85+ hats. We still have a ways to go, but rest assured that we will not stop pushing for this goal. If you want more hats, don't hesitate to drop a loving word to our art team to keep them motivated!

We thank our artists for their continued help. Thanks to their dedication we have been able to add new item icons, a new cloak, a new pet monkey, 7 new trophies, and 7 new pirate hats.

Treasure Hunt Quests

Ah, the pirates life is one of booty and bounty. Fighting when the odds are in your favor, yes please! Fighting when the enemy bares their teeth? No thank you. Pirates flee from a fair fight, and as such work in great haste to bury their treasures around the world, and leave notes for themselves how to find those treasures. Located in all the ORvR lakes are dirtpiles which players can interact with to dig up a pirate's secret notes. Clicking on the dirtpile and not getting anything? That means someone beat you to the stash! Come back to it in a few minutes and try your luck... or look further! 

Players who successfully unearth a box from a dirtpile will be able to open it and get a scroll tube to start a treasure hunt quest. Scroll tubes are tradeable, so be sure to read the description to see if you've already done the quest, as each quest can only be done once per character! Open your scroll tube and read the scroll to start your journey! There are a total of 32 Treasure Hunt Quests (ranging in difficulty) for you to enjoy... we hope! 


Dyes

Twenty rare dyes are available only during this live event, for those who wish to expand their colorful horizons. Six dyes are specular dyes which will dye the specular area of armor pieces that have specular areas. Dye previews are available here, but please be aware that the colors may apply differently on different base armor colors.


2025 Changes

- Removed mandatory scenario participation/completion tasks and replaced them with quests of your choosing

- Added Tome Unlocks & Achievements for the Seas of Slaughter live event

- New Achievements made for Killing Players with a Cursed Coin equipped (earning you titles, a coin to buy a trophy, a new cloak, a new color variant of the pet monkey, and a Doubloon for a cosmetic hat), and one for completing treasure hunt quests (rewarding titles and a trophy)

- 8 New treasure hunt quests have been added

- 7 new trophies have been added and can be previewed here.

- 7 new pirate hats have been added this year : IB/SL RR 80+, Goblin RR 60+, WH RR 60+, Chosen/Mara RR 60+, Zealot/Magus RR 60+, SM/WL RR 85+, and WE/Sorc RR 85+ (the previous WE/DoK/Sorc RR 85+ item has been lowered to be RR 80+). Previews available here.

The Following RvR AP Potions have received changes, to have a better aligned scale.

- Recruits Warming Potion (Tier 1 Level 1 AP Potion) - Increased from 35 AP to 50

- Scouts Quickening Potion (Tier 2 Level 11 AP Potion) - Increased from 62 AP to 83

- Officers Phial of Adrenaline (Tier 4 Level 31 AP Potion) - Increased from 110 AP to 125

- Officers Alacritous Elixir (Tier 4 Level 40 AP Potion) - Increased from 125 AP to 133.

- Conquerors  Alacritous Elixir (Tier 4 Renown 45 AP Potion) - Increased from 133 AP to 145


PvE Potions

The Following PvE AP Potions have received changes, to have a better aligned scale.

Weapons

For many years, a number of items in the game have had incorrect stat values, in some cases giving them too many stats and other times too few. This became apparent while creating the new Lost Vale Weapons, where we realized that many of the weapons created in the past were more powerful than they should have been. With this patch, we're starting to finally re-balance the outliers and also buff the weapons that were too weak. This will mean a number of weapons are changing their total power to be properly balanced, but overall, it shouldn't result in any seismic shifts in power. 

Because there are many weapons to fix up, we're doing these in Tiers, starting with items level 1-46. Today we're updating and re-balancing many mid-tier  Weapons earned for War Crests, previously known as "Scenario Weapons" back before the currency change. We're also updating the Level and Renown requirements for many of these to better sync their progression, so let's get to the details.

*Note: If you've already purchased one of these weapons, they will retain their old character level/renown rank requirements. Going forward, all newly purchased weapons will use the new requirements.

Weapons of Sanctity/Cruelty (Weapon Set buffed to level 28)

- Stats increased on all Sanctity / Cruelty Weapons

- Inherits the War Crest costs of the previous level 29 Weapons

Weapons of Rigor/Ferocity (Weapon Set buffed to level 34)

- Stats increased on all Rigor / Ferocity Weapons

- Inherits the War Crest costs of the previous level 34 Weapons

Weapons of Zeal/Barbarity (Weapon Set buffed to level 39)

- Stats increased on all Zeal / Barbarity Weapons

- Inherits the War Crest costs of the previous level 39 Weapons

We'll be introducing a new set of Weapons around the level ~25 range in the upcoming new T3 Dungeon, planned for later this year, to further fill in the gap left by the current Sanctity / Cruelty weapons shifting up to 28. As we enter the next phase of this weapon balance pass, we'll also be re-balancing Weapons in Tier 5, which encompasses items level 51 and above.

As these passes include changes to over a thousand weapons, we appreciate your patience and understanding as we balance them to ensure proper parity. For any bugs or issues, please let us know on the official RoR Bug Tracker. Thank you!

Tier 4 PvE Rework

All Chapter 15-18 public quests (PQs) have been balanced/fixed, along with all of their Tome Unlocks and the Tome text in the War Stories section. 

All PQs are more or less mirrored in difficulty across the chapters and races. All easy PQs end on champion-level mobs; all normal PQs end on a hero; and all hard PQs end on either a lone hero, or a hero with friends, or in a rare case  - a lord. 

Every PQ now has enough mobs spawned in the first stage so that players do not have to wait for respawns. Overall the amount of trash mobs to be killed in the first stage of almost all of these PQs have been lowered (some from 100 to 60). In some rare cases the amount of mobs went up if the PQ difficulty was changed in cases where the PQ was too small to support having a lot of mobs spawned. For example the Chaos Chapter 18 PQ "Tomb of Deathsword" was a normal PQ that required you to kill 50 mobs (where only 18 were spawned, requiring you to wait for mobs to respawn twice). This PQ is now an easy PQ with only 30 mobs required - and more  mobs were added to count for this PQ so you do not have to wait for them to respawn. However to accommodate this, the "Cinderash Enclave" PQ was changed to normal difficulty, and as a result the amount of mobs to kill there went up from 30 to 40. 

The Empire Chapter 18 PQ 'Gospodar Square' from live has been re-added, though do not fear - it was not added in its original location on live (in the middle of the RvR lake). This PQ is now west of the Chapter 18 hub.

All areas related to these PQs have been fixed. This means that the influence bar and PQ trackers will show up correctly. Previously many of these PQs were flagged with the wrong chapter, or the wrong realm. For example, the Chaos Chapter 18 PQ "The Eastern Breach" was flagged as being in Empire Chapter 19, therefore Destruction players could never see the PQ tracker. 

Our next focus in the Tier 4 rework will be to update the influence rewards for these chapters, followed by the quest rework for these chapters. Due to the large scale of Tier 4, this content is being divided into two batches of Chapters 15-18, and then 19-22.


World

Faction specific flight masters have been added in Tiers 1-3 chapter hubs, replacing the old Gyrocopters/Wyverns. adding some spice to the world design. These new flight masters have special voice lines (originally from mythic) for speaking to and travelling.

- Empire Chapter Hubs will have a Griffon flight master

- High Elf Chapter Hubs will have a Pegasus flight master

- Chaos Chapter Hubs will have a Manticore flight master

- Dark Elf Chapter Hubs will have a Dark Pegasus flight master

Added an extra guard to Empire Chapter 21

Added an extra guard to High Elf Chapter 15


Tier 4 Chapter Hub Flight masters

With the Ongoing rework of Tier 4 PvE, we have added flight masters to the Tier 4 Chapter hubs, after a long time of feedback. Some camps have been excluded, Either because they are very close to the warcamp, or are very close to Battlefield Objectives in RvR zones. These chapter hubs will also have the faction specific flight masters to them. 

The following Tier 4 Chapter Hubs have been excluded from Flight Masters:

- Chaos Chapter 21, Reikland

- Empire Chapter 16, Reikland

- Empire Chapter 19, Praag

- Greenskin Chapter 18, Thunder Mountain

- Dwarf Chapter 18, Thunder Mountain

- Dwarf Chapter 20, Black Crag

- Dark Elf Chapter 15, Caledor

- Dark Elf Chapter 19, Dragonwake

- Dark Elf Chapter 21, Eataine

- Dark Elf Chapter 22, Eataine


Abilities

- Fixed Vampric Shroud on Vampire NPCs. Now has a 1 second cast-time and a 15 second cooldown, now vampires won't constantly screech at you. 

- Disabled Snare on Bone Giants.

- Disabled Life Leaka DoT on Treekins


Quests

The fortress quests in Karaz-A-Karak and Karak-Eight-Peaks have been edited to now include of choice of either the Orcapult, 50 War crests or 5 genesis crests upon completion of the fortress capture. Like the fortress quests in Altdorf & IC, these have a reset time of every 3 days. 

For Order, this quest can be obtained in Karaz-A-Karak from King Belegar Ironhammer in the High King's Hold. 

For Destruction, this quest can be obtained in Karak-Eight-Peaks from Grumlok in the Bloody Sun Hall


Chapter 22

A new quality-of-life mercy quest has been added for all Chapter 22 PQs. Completing any Chapter 22 PQ four times will now give a player a guaranteed choice of any armor drop from that PQ, and offers some dye choices for players who don't need the gear. While most players won't need this mercy option, we've added it for any rare cases where players might get unlucky with their bag rolls.

Credit for this quest is granted only to members of the primary Warband at the PQ (those who get bags), so players trying to leech solo will likely not get credit, and are instead recommended to join up and support the main warband. The new Quest can be found at the Rally Masters in each Chapter 22 camp.

Folks are doing great job, afterall fashion hammer is true end game. But main question still persists - winged hammerer helms when?

I don't care much for hats, but i would love some new Slayer hairpieces, the one on Choppa's DP back looks amazing
And one of the oldest requests - Ranger hood helmet for Engineers? :roll:

Flight masters in T4 chapters are greatly appreciated, just yesterday found myself isolated and had to resolve to /stuck cuz turns out my engi's Book was bound to some odd chapter years ago :)

I expect BS weapon will no longer be a meta after "weapon's rebalance"
