X-Realm Lockout - Potential Solution

Morning

As i tend to play either side these days, im frequently constrained by the x-realm lockout. I do understand its purpose and its there to stop abusers but its not having the desired effect.

My proposal is this (and its stolen from someone yesterday in /1 and I thought thats a great idea).

Instead of having any lockout, simply apply a debuff on the character that has logged over to the other side which will prevent them from getting any of the following in PVP:
  • XP
  • Renown
  • Crests
  • Bags
For 1 hour or the lockout timer they would have had on the current solution.

Anyone truly cross realming to balance the lakes will likely not even need any of those and just want to play the game. Removing those benefits also removes the attraction to cross realm for nefarious purposes too.

The benefits are that you are free to log on any character/side you like to do whatever you want whether its pve, pvp, crafting, sc's etc. It also should really help organised groups balance lakes to make it a more fun fight for all.

This is the best solution I have heard on this topic yet.

Makes it easy to switch sides and you don‘t have to think about a lockout if you have some stuff on the other side planned

You will be punished by loosing contribution in most cases anyway. 1h can be extended to 90 mins like lockout if there are any reservations. These 30 mins do not really matter.

Great idea. Will help out those trying to balance the lakes better as they can swap without losing people to lockouts and such. Would be better than locking them to one side because when they've logged over and gotten locked that's them potentially xrealming to get into fort or something and those debuffs would kill any advantage to swapping like that.

I actually like this alot! I would even go as far as to say the timer you dont get rewards could be longer. Maybe even 3h

I changed the original post to say:

"For 1 hour or the lockout timer they would have had on the current solution."

so its still uses the timer of the lockout today but just applies it as a debuff where the player wont get the rewards :)

I think that is a great idea.
However to play the devils advocate here, one of the things that was mentioned to be half the reason behind the lockouts, was that the "pug" players disliked first being carried by premades on their own side for them to then only log over and farm them the next hour.

With the Campaign barely mattering these days, and premades barely carrying zonelocks. I think this ancient argument is also kinda defeated with how the player behaviour is these days.

Noooo, I want to blob with the rest of the winning side, stomping inferior beings and get my well earned rewards!

Jokes aside, seems like a not too complex thing to implement and good idea for organized groups to balance the lakes, +1
