Protection in scenarios

What counts toward the protection statistic in scenarios? Is it bubbles and guard damage, or do other things like hold the line count toward it? I've recently changed to 2 handed tank and get way less protection in scenarios, I was wondering if it was related to actually blocking/parrying incoming guard damage or maybe I just die way faster and it doesn't add up as quickly.

Should be bubbles and guard, but you need a shield to block, so you aren't blocking anything now.

So protection is based on damage guarded then blocked or parried?

Protection is based on anything you mitigate, parry, disrupt, or block while guarding someone. But that's the damage they would have taken that you mitigated

I'm pretty sure you also get protection score from detaunt, which is how you see such high self-protection scores from healers.

Hi, You get protection from absorbing DMG threw absorbs and gaurd, reducing it with challange/detaunt and similar abilites.

Protection comes from guard damage, both parried/blocked and not, challenge, bubbles, bellow M3, and any othe effect that decrese incoming damage (Kotbs' Vigilance or BO's Savin'Me Hide, for instance). Buff such as increased thouness/wounds don't increase protection. Not even cleansing dot and debuffs increase protection.

I palyed 2h BO for a lot of time and I had no problem in topping SC's scoreboard. Just Challenge on CD, use Bellow M3 on big enemy blobs, spam absorbs, and most importantly stay in guard range always. Swapping guard will grant you a lot of protection, I suggest putting guard on click-casting on enemy, it will save you a lot of time.

That said, SCs scoreboard aren't really important. They are convenient for farming crest, but they don't really give and indication of your skill as a tank, only of your skill in having big numbers. Tank's job is not only to soak damage, but also to punt guard, bodyblock, assist the dps and so on
