As a new player the T2 experience has been kinda bad.

Been really enjoying the game for the past week or so and been thinking of diving deep into the game. Just reached lvl 16 the other day and was excited for the extra **** that comes with that area.

Only to find out that T4 players can participate in T2 areas so I'm surrounded by lvl 40s while trying to do something meaningful but just getting deleted within seconds.

It's a lot better in Scenarios where I still manage to do some work but I'm guessing I'm just grinding PvE content instead of fighting PvP cuz there's just no way to compete with these people.

I don't know. This is a really weird transition that the game takes.

Lower tiers gameplay could be fun but only for experienced players. For new guys coild be nightmare cos you need to know quite many game mechanics to not be a waste.
I leveled up my sorc to rr63 before went to 40 entirely by playing solo at lakes and that is literally the worst class for that gameplay. And it was fast and enjoyable but you need to know what are you doing otherwise total pain and probably rage quit

The population isn't big enough to support 4 tiers of players, so T2, T3 and T4 were merged. In general, this has been a good thing but it is rough for new players.

That doesn't mean you can't contribute or level up in RvR.

As a low level, you've basically just gotta join open warbands (if they'll have you!) or blob surf. If you're low level, you only need to hit an enemy once or twice and you'll get a good chunk of renown. Over the course of an evening, you'll still rank up quicker in RvR than you would in scenarios, as well as stacking up a lot more crests.

It can still be brutal at times, but even when ur max level in BiS there are still times when it's brutal! Thats the nature of a PvP game!

For alternatives, you can level up through just PvE and Scenarios. I've done that a couple of times with alts. You'll definitely hit level 40 quicker, but you are then committed to the PvE grind. If you're not sure what I mean by that, it basically means grinding some PQs while leveling, and dungeons at endgame to acquire gearsets, rather than getting the RvR gearsets. Its not a huge grind, but depends on whether you like group PvE or not!

Final piece of advice: join a guild! It'll make your experience a lot better

I beg to differ.
whats this nonsense 200vs200 in these way too small open areas where the game goes down to 10 fps. you all cant tell me you actually enjoy this zerg blob nonsense. I just closed the game, unplayable and no funny at all ... just going forth and back. its more interesting to watch a running washmashine

Solo, or zerg surfing? Because if the latter it's one of the better classes for that simply because it's ranged.
