[White Lion] Need guidance past nerfs

Hello,

There’s a wide spread belief that WL is an absolute beast of a class, but my experience is a little bit different and I’m trying to figure out why I’m still the bottom feeder of hell.

Believe it or not, I got to rank 81, halfway to 82 and I’m losing 90-95% of the solo encounters I have. In small roam things are slightly better, but still most classes just delete me from life, like my defences doesn’t exist. In a blob, depending on tanks and healers, things are different and I can see what people say about the class excelling.

I’m currently running a 5x Offensive Sov + 3 Triu, almost done with Replica Ring, Sent instead. 2x Gen jewels. I know Offensive Sov is bad for solo, even to and extent for small roam as well. After the Replica I’ll go for Defensive Sov. Talismans are mostly weapon skill, only in the weapon I have strenght.

Depending on the build tactics change. But I have Brut Force in all of them. For AoE build I use also Pack Synergy for 50% crit, minus AP/+ Arm Pen for Whirling and Slashing, DoT on Slashing. For solo/small roam I use 50% lion speed, 50% crit smg and 10% defence overcome. I’ve experimented with defensive tactics like 25% dmg reduction for spells and range on melee hit, also Biting Strikes buff of armor and disrupt, not much changed, maybe I will feel it with Def Sov.

My biggest concern is the skill rotations, what I have on my bars. For solo/small roam I usually start withe melee slow, followed by forced opportunity to lower armor, leonine frenzy and silence on the same global cd, followed by Hack to boost pet’s crit. Then usually Coordinated Strike and Fey-something. If i have time I use the basic attack that lowers armor on side/behind hits.

Another thing that worries me is gow unreliable the pet is. It feels so easy to defend its abilities. Silence and knockback feel useless against most melee, being easily parried and blocked, like the 10% def overcome doesn’t apply. Also sometimes it feels like I’m hitting enemies with wet boodle, damages are extremely low. In the same time dual wielding classes like Mara, DoK and eapecially WE, hit me like a truck with their autoattacks. Often I see damage logs, where on every hit I make, or my pet, there are 5-6 hits the enemy sneaks on me. And it’s not like I don’t use my skills, they are on CD, just feels like those hits are going to Narnia. There is something I’ve been doing fundamentally wrong in the past 2 months. I feel like the Renown piniata/donor of the server 😀

Any help or suggestions would be highly appreciated.

People overrate white lion for solo I think. Mostly destros who like to have a boogieman.

That said I think you would do better with 4 tri for the 260 stats. Also grimshimmer and regen rings probably and atleast 15% futile strikes in renown.
There are also a few tricks I have learned or been taught:

If u have trouble landing knockdown run from ur pet forcing enemy melee to turn their backs to pet for 100% kd.
Also the pet will freeze very often after KD or root or cc. Tab attack and follow to reset its ai.

Quite frankly though I think roam is not in a good place atm because dot healers and too strong and then def specs also.

About knockdown, before patch, wl could use the skill before engaging so the first attack would instant KD
The skill's duration has been reduced to 5 seconds; therefore, you must use it when the pet is already at range
However, it is now undefendable unless your opponent manages to parry all your lion attacks during those 5s
Same goes for silence, so unless you face a tank/mdps with 90% parry, skills should always work
Ofc don't use them during mdps m1 / bg elite training ect...

I agree with you on everything else
Never get how my dmgs switch from nice against a rr80 tank to wet noodle against another
Maybe some people run toughness build, idk
The AA damages are still insane against most classes
However big nerf from mdps patch was to switch the AA speed tactic to end mid tree :/

RoR.builders - White Lion

Running this spec for sc, using armor debuff from lion :?
I'm still nooby rr66 wl and didn't try solo since patch, also curious to read pro advices

The average White Lion in glass cannon spec is going to be free renown for any prepared Solo roaming ''good'' destro class, WE is obviously broken ( not vs WL, but in general) but a Magus or Shaman that knows what it is doing, hell even a ''def'' mara etc will easily kill you, zealot etc if you don't know exactly what you're doing. You're good at killing squishy targets but any Def will abuse you if they can.

So, what to do ? Well first of all you need to learn what each enemy class can do, and use the appropriate counter move. Put their ''deadly' stuff that you need to track on the Buffhead ID. Here use this to find any ID in the game:
https://war-abilityviewer.dalen.io/ability/list?page=0

Generally, replace the -10 and put in Flanking instead for a glass cannon, learn to maneuver around their sides/flank and unleash, armor shred-->kd-->Pack Assault-->Coordinated strike, that is the main burst move. You got mobility as your main advatange so use it to your benefit, learn to kite sometimes and pounce in to unleash another burst rotation then move out again like a Kung FU fighter, don't just brawl and trade blows with classes that have a lot of % Parry ( glass cannon WL has no parry).

It's going to take some practice but observe some better WL's that still roam as glass cannon. You might want to try the new healing tactic as well and put on some regen stuff to not die from a dot.

Obviously if you can later down the road, shift to a more def approach, which stacks some parry, regen etc and use more defensive tactics( if solo is your thing). In fact try the addon ClosetGoblin and swap gear depending on opponent( like vs Zealot a full glass WL , vs WE go full def and general roaming to increase your success).

And finally with the lion it's all about the micromanagement of the pet, fail on this and your done, that is why the current BUGS that the devs for some reason refuse to fix are so devastating, so learn to work around the bugs.

The one where the PET freeze on CC is just retarded, it is really embarassing that the Devs has not fixed it after 1,5 years since introducing it. ( * wink** to the bug fix team, what the hell have you guys not fixed this yet?

P.S.
It should be obvious but in case you're new to the game and 1vs1 1vsxs, it's all about the correct timing of potions, regen pots(blue ones). Absorb pots, 2 x AP pots, you'll need them all to stay competetive. Especially as glass cannon you'll need that extra effective HP that comes with correct pot usage ( everyone doing small scale, is try-hard on this).
