Unable to make new characters

So I have just returned back to this game and am finding a problem, I am unable to make a new character. Each time I go through the process and try and choose a name it says duplicated or invalid name even for the most strange names I can think of. Has this happened to anyone else?

Its a known bug right now that has a fix waiting for deployment. Sadly this was a regression from todays patch

This was fixed with the restart.
