My Return to Reckoning

Greetings all! I'm Xalon (Zay-Lon) though most call me Xal (Zal) or just X.

I started my MMORPG experience with World of Warcraft. And from day one, I decided to take my time and fully experience the game. Never rushing, skipping content or choosing to grind. Talking to all NPCs, reading all quest text and exploring everything as I adventured. And I have never once been bored, bitter or burnt out from playing.

I was able to play for about 18 months, never experiencing another MMORPG. And then I started to hear about Warhammer Online. And once I started, I was hooked. As someone who's main was a Rogue in WoW, I started WAR with the most similar class, the Witch Elf. Even though it was a female character, which I avoid playing because it ruins the immersion completely - I really enjoyed WAR. The way things were where you had six completely unique PVE storylines for each race, the RVR, the ToK and more! I loved how you ventured deeper into the war-torn areas as you progressed. It was so unique to have the dark elves INVADE and go deeper into enemy territory over time. So badass! After I reached 40/39, that was when WAR declined.

I have always held the belief that WAR would have lasted a lot longer if they actually promoted the PVE in the game. Yes, RVR was a big part of the game, but if you saw some of the old advertising, they made it seem like you had to PVP to play the game and I think that scared off a lot of players used to PVP from other mmos. During the last months of the game, I got really into playing a Warrior Priest and a Black Orc. But never went past the teens.

I also played the separate 3v3 match game with all the different types of classes. That was fun. I hope we can get that back as well one day.

Fast forward a good decade before I even heard about RoR and I had to check it out. And over the last several years, everything improved and became better than the original version. The Dwarf and Greenskin cities look amazing btw! And now all the PVE is going strong too! And with the RVR changes its way more fun to be able to roam between T2-4 pairings instead of being locked out of them because of level.

I'm able to play a lot more now and my goal is have one character from each race. To keep things fresh, I only do the quests for pairing my race is part of, but I do all the RVR and travel/etc. quests from the warcamps. Makes it easier as by the time I hit early 20s, I have the RVR quests for T2-4 in my quest log and I don't have to pick any up when I go between RVR areas.

The only other MMORPG that I really loved, besides WoW and WAR (now RoR), is Age of Conan. And I still play that just like I play the other two.

Being able to enjoy lots of PVP, as well as big RVR battles at keeps/forts, thousands of PVE quests, tons of lore, epic Lairs, Dungeons, and Raids, as well as throwing in some Roleplay - I am very, very happy about playing RoR.

And I hope everyone appreciates just how luck we all are. We could have had NOTHING after WAR ended. And we would only be able to remember our fun times playing. But thanks to the original WAR dev who released the game code and all the phenomenal work that the Return of Reckoning team has done and continue to do every day, we get to continue with this amazing experience.

So devs, THANK YOU SOOOOOO MUCH!!!!!!! And to all the players - let's try to be more positive. Don't let stress or frustration ruin the game for you. Don't let your own CHOICES of how you play ruin it either. We should all be excited to play whenever we log in. Whether we end up having to face a zerg or being outnumbered, it shouldn't take away the fun. We can just switch to Scenarios or PVE or anything else to keep busy until things seem a bit more even.

Btw, on Live, I ran a big guild called Forces of Destruction and my character name was Xalissa the witch elf.

I'm looking for a new guild for my Black Orc Brawlz and my Warrior Priest Xalon. So, if you have one that has players that enjoy ALL of RoR and not just one part, let me know. Otherwise, I'll see you on the battlefield!

Lastly, I really hope there is a day when players can flag for /RVR when outside of the RVR lakes. With so many amazing areas to fight in, its a shame we can't do it. And it would be by choice, so no one will be attacked unless they want to be.

Thanks for reading! Hmu anytime :)
