Client doesn't login (no character selection screen)

99% of the time when I try to play RoR, the launcher works fine, but when the client launches it never connects or displays my character selection screen.

It just stays blank, until it eventually errors out and crashes.

It isn't the "read only" thing I've seen posted about, nor is it the "run as administrator" error either.

Anyone know how to fix this?

Unrelated: My mouse has extra buttons (assigned them to 5-10 on the number keys) and the game used to recognize them just fine. It no longer does. Any ideas?

Same issue here. I just made a thread myself asking for help - didnt see yours until just now though :|

Hopefully someone can get us some help, I haven't even played on the server yet and this is annoying...

Yeah, I really want to play but I constantly have trouble doing so. I get to play every other day at best : /

Happens to me 100% of the time. I count to 5 (arbitrary) and if it's still blank I simply hit the 'quit' button, let the window close, leave the launcher running, count to 10 (arbitrary), and hit connect. So far, 100% of the time, I'm taken to the regular character select screen and all goes smoothly. Hope it works for everyone else! :)

Wait, I'm confused as to what you're saying. You get the same issue, quit it once and it works? I've tried quitting and restarting, but no joy. Can you explain a bit more?

Just right clicked the entire return of reckoning folder and unchecked the read only thing in properties and it worked :|

Also encountering this problem. Tried Prats' suggestion of unchecking the Read-Only box but it makes no difference for me.

Getting this message now:
Data.myp:
System.Exception: You need to stop application currently using the following file: data.myp
at MYPHandler.MYPHandler.WriteFileToArchive(FileInArchive archFile, MemoryStream MS)
at MYPHandler.MYPHandler.ReplaceFile(FileInArchive archFile, FileStream newFile)

Just unchecked the read-only box. Now when I hit connect in the launcher - it just does nothing :(

edit: The forum button works just fine, the connect button is unresponsive.
edit2: Fixed it last night. The button worked after I unchecked the "remember" button. Close it, reinput my credentials. Blam, worked.
