Anyone know how/where to get better than level 1 magic essences?

Magical salvaging.
However I have not managed to find boxes higher than level 1 - I'm assuming they don't exist in the current game?

Nope havent seen anyone higher. As I recall it there were 4 diffrent on live 50/10/150/200 and wasnt there anything speciell you could buy in guild quarters?
