I would say Kotbs but its just my opinion

I believe the meta was knights play with a shield for better group support (dirty tricks), while their wounds debuff does have its virtues (white lions and bright wizards like it especially) the jury is out on which is more useful.

Ib has good damage and survivability with 2 hander at least it did when trivial blows existed, its all around probably the best designed tank in the game from a power level perspective.

Kotbs is the best grp defensive tank in the game, if you go 2h you cant give your grp stuff like 20% grp crit and what not and people try to justify it with runefang + m2

IB is the best overall, if you go 2h your already naturally very tanky and you have access to grumble and mutter for even more sustain; furthermore, you loose nothing by going 2h as you still have access to all your buffs and stuff so your still relevant in grps and your dmg is nice as well

Yes much like blorcs, pure dps wise SM is good but the op asked "best" and and when considering what is "best" you have to look at it from all aspects and that includes grp play where IB easily outshines SM as they have FAR more grp utility and are not as situational

I have knight in t2 and I can say that my tankage is good but I do lack damage and I kinda sacrifice quite some to have some decent damage.
IB seems nice and I know Borc is good too. Gonna make an alt tonight but can't decide which one to choose. Actually leaning towards to Borc more because orcs

DPS blorcs are in a strong place now because dps black orcs finally have access to some of the big tools they need do monster dmg like back in the day

Tree hit combo as well as Gork smash tactic and stab you godder so when you activate any ability in da best plan you have 20% chance to crit on it which synergies well with tree hit 6 attacks , 30% chance if they are under the effects of deeply impaled

and then later down the line you can go back and get the down you go ability that people were crittig for 1k+ with back when the cap was 26
