I approve of option two. WPs and doks should not be as viable at doing dmg as a dps while also being a healer. We will have melee dok and wp premades unkillable if that happens. They need a range increase for melee heal range and a bump in heal it provides. They have an aoe detaunt with 100% up time and that's way better than any dps and are medium armor so defense isn't an issue. I don't think huge changes are needed for melee healing to be viable. Making them a viable dps is a bad idea IMO
I pretty much agree with you, WP/DOK shouldn't dps as much as a real dps while healing, but should heal via melee, BUT being melee is a HUGE disadvantage compared to being ranged, especially for a healer (way easier to cc -hello snare+superpunt-, to burst-as he cannot kite mdps- etc) so he needs to bring something to the table to be useful, which is an assist dps. By assist, I mean ofc not the dps of a real dps, and whithout burst, but still a small/semi-decent dps, otherwise there will be no reason to play melee healer over ranged healer.
Stats conversion would be a good thing imo, and wouldn't give WP/DOK a dps comparable to real mdps (the same way dpsRP/zealot don't have the same dps as a rdps) but would help getting ride of the wil/str gearing nonsense.

Anyway, I repeat that WP/DOK will need something to gap close anyway to be viable as melee healer, because otherwise a single tank could snare+super kb (6-7s at least for the WP/DOK to come back to melee range, so 6-7s whithout healing), then kd (3 more seconds whithout healing)=10s -at least- without healing every 30s with immuns...who will want a healer that cannot heal 1/3 of the time?

I bet shamies and SHs eat WPs 1v1 all the time. if u ever lose to melee class or tank 1v1 on dps WP you would be doing something horribly wrong (talking bout current t2).[/quote]

Given same gear, WPs/DoKs aren't that hard if you are a good tank with high block/parry.

KotBS can easily beat DoK for sure. WPs are easy if you interrupt their Divine Assault (taunt ftw).

Shamans, DoKs and even Magus will beat a DPS WP (i used to :| a super twinked DPS WP with my Magus in T3).

I donk know. I havent found single dps WP, who could beat same geared WE or MARA. I am sure,they can beat some classes in 1v1 but definitely not "anyone".
Guarded dps WP or dps DoK is the most anoying and hardest to kill combo in game.

ou can play You dps WP if there is at least one healer in Your group. If u use divine assault to heal your team mates and throw hots on others and time to time use group heal, I see no problem that You should not play that way.
If You are single healer in party or in scenario,not throw single hot on anyone or never used group heal and only spamming dps skills and heal Your self, You should be prepared to face hate from Your team mates.
I suggest swap tactics,equip 1h+tome and focus on heal only.

As long as nerfbuttons is functional, the skill floor for any class or spec can be really quite low. I'm not arguing for or against the addon, but only to say that I don't think it makes sense to talk about skill / reward as long as it exists and is functional.

wp it's the class that get the most change over the story of war i think, they were insane as melee /healer, they had a skill that do damage + group cleanse and then heal the party originally.
Worthless say dok didn't.
About what telen said, when they introduced the ap heal they nerfed the aoe heal, cant remember if they touch the value or the ammount of souls required but it was a not so little nerf.

About dok/wp they should certain being forced more to stay front line, but if you play 1 dps healer this cannot have the same function of a normal healer.
If it makes damage he need to be tanky, if it's tanky cannot heal like a healer or you have D&D 4ed dragonborn paladin that can do all alone.

As hybrid class this mean you will should have 1 healer 2 healer/dps 1 dps 2 tank, that way you could balance the class to be not op but still work, there would always be heals and dps like there was 2 dps and 2 healer.but they would be split over 3 classes for healer and dps instead 2.

I don't really think DPS DoK/WP need a total overhaul, they work well in certain comps and could use a small buff like the gap closer suggested.

They got so much hate because so many pug dps spec WP/DoK tend to do terribly and draw ire because people see them and go "instead of being garbage they could be healing". Games should be balanced at the highest level of play,we don't need to buff melee healers to the point where they are "mandatory" in 6 man comps. I would think balancing the game away from the melee train meta would be a bit more important.
