Something to make people stay at BOs so fights occur around them would definitely help, though honestly I feel like a lot of this would require the maps to redesigned which obviously can't happen.

You dont necessarily need to have people stay at the BO, with the lockout players will arrive at BO ...

I played my fair shair ESO years ago - before they homogized everything. And well you dont have that problem in ESO because every decent build/player wont die in a 1v1 in under 5-10 minutes or at all. And building defense is was vast superior in duels as defensive items gave like 3k armor/mresist ...

Yes modern MMOs tried to push the philosophy of "You can play whatever you want", and all of them failed terribly about it.

TL;DR: This is a level design issue. Respawn poinst should not be closer to each other than to Battle Objective or similar mechanics. In addition BOs should have lockouts to create a more focused opportunity window which will draw players to contest them ...

Y'all keep calling 1v1 a "cherry-picking extreme case of specialized content" and saying that game is about other things as if 90% of all youtube content isn't about solo roaming adventures

In rock -> paper -> scissors balance, tanks are supposed to beat DPS. DPS are supposed to kill healers, and healers supposed to kill tanks.


Wanna comment on this because people always bring up this idea and entirely misunderstand what it means.

I think Sieges should be a lot more common and a less terrifying gameplay experience. Keeps and Forts should constantly be happening as part of the game, and smoothly, not some extra content most are afraid/bored of or can't be bothered to do.

I think perhaps the ram shouldn't even be a personal usable siege weapon, but instead part of the map objectives together with BOs, Keeps and supplies.

It'd be fun to try it as a payload mechanic, make it spawn automatically when Keep has enough stars/supplies and then players would have to escort ...
