Problem at launcher

Post#1 » Thu Jun 04, 2015 9:28 pm

Before i say anything yes i have read the most common problems occurring and the solutions to them.

I get this error every time i try to log in :

Data.myp:
System.Runtime.InteropServices.COMException (0x80070422): The specified service does not exist as an installed service. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x80070422)
at System.Runtime.InteropServices.Marshal.ThrowExceptionForHRInternal(Int32 errorCode, IntPtr errorInfo)
at System.Management.ManagementScope.InitializeGuts(Object o)
at System.Management.ManagementScope.Initialize()
at System.Management.ManagementObjectSearcher.Initialize()
at System.Management.ManagementObjectSearcher.Get()
at MYPHandler.MYPHandler..ctor(String filename, del_FileTableEventHandler eventHandler_FileTable, del_FileEventHandler eventHandler_Extraction, HashDictionary hashDic)
at RoRLauncher.Client.UpdateWarData()

I have seen some post directing me to the READ THIS BEFORE POSTING IN THIS FORUM but except the fact that i didnt know what the problem is nothing worked. I guess it might be the Read Only thing, i have unchecked it 1000 times and apply and everytime i go to folder properties its at Read Only again every god damn time like its trolling me.

Thank you for your time reading this! :)

Try this maybe.

Also, if you click read only on your base folder, let it apply to everything, the unclick read only and let it apply to everything, that might catch it.

The following is at the users risk, don't cry to me if it screws something up.

You'll need Powershell 3.0 (default on Win8)
Installer for Win7 SP1 x64 http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download ... x?id=34595

It looks like a Windows update when you install it, requires a reboot.

Next open a Powershell window (right click, run as admin). Run the following line. You'll need to point it to your Warhammer directory.

gci "F:\Warhammer Online - Age of Reckoning" | Unblock-File

That's it. All files unblocked.

I tried the first thing you said but didnt work either :/ I wont try the second one cause i dont want all my files to be unblocked. I downloaded the same torrent quite some time ago then added the launcher and i didnt have any problems whatsoever, then i deleted the whole folder and now after quite some time when i did it again i get this error, i searched on different posts here but nobody gave an accurate answer

Could it be related to this? http://www.returnofreckoning.com/forum/ ... f=2&t=3575

Or is it irrelevant? I have last update for Net framework, launcher is at the right place everything is fine, except the read only thing i cant change for some weird reason, i have windows 8 if that helps, also i downloaded the game first via torrent, deleted it then downloaded piece by piece and still the same issue, its really annoying.

It's not going to unblock all your files, just the ones in the WAR folder when you specify it.

I wonder if you just don't have admin rights on your PC or something. Does someone else share it with you?

I checked the rights and its all fine, i got full rights, nobody shares this pc with me, i have seen many other posting about this problem but nobody gave a straight answer on how to fix this :/ Could there be any older files corrupting this?

Btw i just did the PowerShell thing..... still nothing :(

Btw i dont have a checkmark at read only but this square that always persists. I understood that thats 2 different things. So basically if i go to properties for any file inside the game folder its not read only. And yes i do run the launcher as administrator but this error keeps popping and annoying the living F*CK out of me

That indication means that only some files/folders within that folder are set to read only. Make sure that all the files and folders inside the game folder are "read only" unchecked.

Making sure that box is empty and applying changes should do it. If it doesn't, moving the folder to somewhere else and trying again could fix it.

As a note, the reason you aren't getting a specific answer is because you don't have a specific error message. Stretch your google-fu a bit and you'll see it applies to all sorts of applications, most likely .NET related.

and until you figure out what piece that is, all we're doing is guessing at bits and pieces that have helped other people.

Reinstalling Visual C++ packages is on the list of things to do, I think WAR uses C++ 2005 Jan 2010. Make sure you have your latest Windows Updates and optional updates. Try turning it off and on again, at least three times. Usual helpdesk stuff they ask you to do.

I have already moved the folder in way too many different locations and tried that.
Same applies to folders inside the main folder, i still cant change it, but all the files inside them have read only unchecked.
