Black screen on startup

This is a direct copy I use. You will just need the new launcher. It's on my companies web server. You should be able to download between 10-15 megs a second. If your internet can handle that.

I'm also having this problem, but oddly enough I had been playing the game a few days before it started. I can get into the login screen fine, but once I load in I'm just in a black screen with the UI visible and some ambient sounds around. I've redownloaded it via the direct download twice now, and tried it with and without SweetFX to no effect.

If you're able to select the character, try the following while on loading screen (AFTER character selection):

press [enter]
type \stuck
press [enter]

Downloaded this and started it up, which worked -- but still have the exact same black background problem. Buttons are there, etc.

Anyone else gotten any further in this? :T

When I do pick either of martyr square's it once again ends up being the same, I am unable to see anything or create a character, though the odd difference is that here I can hear the river flowing and other ambient sounds that weren't present in the torrent version. Hovering over menus and clickable things plays a sound, whereas in the torrent version it also did not. ..If that is of any relevance at all.

Look like the torrent version is slightly different than the MEGA/DD version. Maybe Elevn need to fix on that.

Yeah, I'm sort of waiting in silent despair for some sort of solution to this too...

MEGA/Direct/Torrent will have some differences in file size, but the core files should be the same. User profiles, addons, and shaders might be different. Try this download. Make sure your files are not set to read only (war.exe, rorlauncher.exe, data.myp).

Ran the DirectX setup and launched the game -- for the first time ever, I actually managed to get into the game without crashing at Norsca loading screen. Everything was just as black as usual, both during login and when in the game.

Tried to type /stuck to see what happened, got logged out -- logged back in, and crashed at loading screen for Norsca.

So back to square one, but I must admit it was very uplifting seeing ANY progress.

Here's a crash report from the launcher:
