Ability Archmage Rainlord 4 -

Why - this ability is one of the most under-performing abilities in the game I have seen. It simply fails at everything. It has no affinity to the mechanic, nor has it any value as debuff. http://warhammeronline.wikia.com/wiki/Rain_Lord

- please understand the proposed changes may not suit everyone's ideal purpose or 'intended' purpose of the Class, but it's my own idea for what I think could be a improvement to one ability.

It seems the intended purpose is to effect negatively your opponents damage dealing capabilities, but has no real use in PvP beyond 1vs1? Any knight in group gives the ~3x better Aura which doesn't require multiply defense checks (eg Parry, Disrupt, Block..). The option that it is ranged would make the ability good for when Archmage providing Range Pressure (ie Sieges/funnels). However a more pertinent concern for the class is Mechanic integration (to make a positive change for mechanic building), as well the issue of the primary design to offer defensive options versus a wider variety of classes.

This ability discussion seems best suited to xx category:
4 - Address classes individually. This is where we look at each individual class in depth and in isolation. We will be addressing in this stage both class external balance - how the class competes with others -and class internal balance - how well the class's own abilities and tactics compete against each other for usage, and how many viable specs it has.
Proposed purpose changes..
-add to tools for mechanic building for this 'Hex'
-continue being used as ranged AOE debuff offense
-debuff offense , adding a +3% chance to be defended against

Theory behind proposed changes. RL has a limited scope of usefulness if it is actually applied successfully, due to class build restrictions any Healer spec is having his chance to utilize the defensive option of RL, extremely handicapped to begin with - due to no Int in a healer build. Because of the 'defense check' for opponent BLOCK/DISRUPT and PARRY. Useless to provide offensive debuff in order to play support role.

Only stat that is left (after KOTBS) anywhere nearby, is Int/Ballistic debuff of ~100 after all defense check. Heck, if even a failed check could provide a mechic build, I could have more reason to use this ability for my playstyle.

Positively, this discussion will likely be a short one. If changes is necessary it should be easy (hopefully)..

Declining. There are no issues with RL.
