At this point, you can do a variation with this:

Swap armor tactic for an health regen one, run with good HoT potions, and basically what Scrilian said.
I had a lot of fun running anti melee spec with full on parry with riposte which was pretty effective, you can see this here:

right now i play with riposte and 30% parry which looks really good statistic wise.
- Martock - Tiggo - Antigonos - Mago - Hamilkar - Melquart
- Smooshie (Destro)

Ramapge isn't 100% nessisary but it is a nice ability, fierce might is a great tactic for solo and slayers spec inevitable doom because it provides excellent back loaded damage in their single target specs.

Double rune ripost is actually not that bad of a build if you are 70+ and want to pug some SCs.

There are a lot of drawbacks to it like the lack of Rampage, SL, aoeslow, but its the build when you can actually relax a bit on the battlefield. ;)

Riposte is not a good tactic on slayers and choppas any more here

on live the damage from riposte scaled with rage just like jagged edge but here in ror it does not scale and it is intended accoridng to az because it is handled differently so its better to take flanking/push for more

also not a fan of slaughter

Well that's a bummer, I remember ripost crits up to 1-1.2k prior to 80+ patch, but thats a -880 armor debuff axe + Fierce Might.
Does it mean that it no longer can crit high with 50% crit damage on WH with Repel?

Slaughter is great for any ID builds just coz with Gudrun Warcry it costs like 23ap and RoA is 3ap, just my preference since I take +wounds over +ap on my gear.

Not to be facetious, but your best bet is to befriend some tanks and heals. I always say that a slayer is only as good as his group. You can't effectively slaugter filthy gobbos without support, especially in this rDPS centric meta.
