(New player)Zealot vs DOK vs...Sorc?

Hi all,
I'm totally new here but always wanted to try this game because of how much it is focused on PvP.
PvP is what I want from an MMORPGs and sadly most of them are leaning more and more into easier and easier PvE nowadays . Love BGs, Arenas and Large Scale Open World PvP.

I tried to figure out which class to play by myself but the more I read here the more I'm confused and unsure so please help. I have tons of experience from other MMOs but will use WoW (pre-Cata) as a referrence because probably most of you will be familiar with it.

- Only interested in Destro side
- Prefer Support that can kill (like Shadow Priest for ex.)
- Don't mind healing 80% of times (but would love to contribute in kills as well...yeah I really enjoy to killsteal as support... )
- Likes hard to master Escape Artists Glass Cannons (I had a blast and rocked on Sub Rogue)
- Good CCs and Debuffs (and DoTs) that contributes to the group over plain buffs (like Affli Lock)

I don't want to invest time to play spec and class that isn't viable in Endgame but would be happy to play something not in the meta for the sake of fulfilling my playstyle. From what I read DoK is really nerfed, Zealot is just stand in the back and act as healbot otherwise it is a meme so maybe I shall play Sorc which is a strong A tier caster (yes, and I like AoE).

Would appreciate every suggestion or should I just open my eyes and there isn't nearly a class I described here?

Welcome to server dude, You should try out the Zealot it fits what you describe, it has a dps spec that needs some love from devs but its a healer and its so fun you won't be disappointed!

Alternatively you can try a shaman aswell also a healer but relies on damage for better heals and vice-versa, I find Zealot easier to play myself.

Try Shaman... A zealot isn't able to kill anything in a halfway coordinated surrounding. Also the class mechanic of zeals kills the hybrid Idea completely.

DoK, 3 differnt specs, all 3 works.
Pure dps is very good now with ”only” st healdebuff thats have 100% uptime.
Friends needed for guard

Shield spec is great for pve, damage and alot of healing. Can be hard to pull off but is worth it for speedrunning pve.

Healing just great spec.

DoK is great. Fun gear progression because so many specs.

I decided to go DoK since the theory of dealing dmg in melee to heal allies, heal debuffs and it even has lifesteal (which I adore)!

Damn! This game is sooo sooo oldschool! I can setup Add0ns in WoW but here it is pretty brutal (even my carrer points dissapeared out of a blue and I don't know why ).

I feel so lost and I love it!

P.S. At Tier 1 I don't see any chance for melee classes.

It doesn't get better at t4 pug niveau as melee... Use everything to break line of sight in T1.

In Open RvR Mass battle melees have to function and move as a grp to have impact.

Imho melee heal only works in smallscale... Thats why the shaman Idea...
Play what's fun to you, we all have played lots of toons to get the one we play as main.
