Can't launch game after windows update

So last night my computer installed a Windows update. This evening when I sat down to log on to RoR, I noticed the shortcut had changed to a generic icon. I clicked it anyway to launch but it told me the file it pointed to was gone or something like that. Undaunted, I went into the RoR folder and tried to launch using the War-64.exe but that gave me some error saying it couldn't be run directly and to run Warpatch.exe which I can't find in the install folder. Is there any way to fix this short of uninstall/reinstall everything?

Appreciate the replies but I got antsy to play so I just decided to do a clean install.

Now I am having a new problem. I run RoRLauncher.exe and it will start downloading the patch manifest then there are 6 files it verifies. MOST of the time it makes it through those 2 steps but not always. After that it goes to downloading files for the patch. It started with 912 files, now there are 903 but it never makes it past 10 or 12 of them before the patcher just crashes. As I mentioned, I've had the crash occur earlier too, as early as the manifest stage. I'm about ready to just give up on it unless someone can help me fix this because I can't see any way I'm ever going to get those 900+ files downloaded.

I will add that I had this issue when I originally installed the game too but it was not nearly this bad as I was able to eventually complete the patch process.
