Hi there,
Lately ran into a problem while trying to get RoR working on Wine Staging with dxtc-patches.
Guess I got it working now, everything is loading without graphical errors. Launcher is throwing the infamous counter error, but seems not to effect launching of the game at all.
But as soon as it reaches the main menu, there is no server to choose, the text of to the right of the screen stays empty and the string, which I guess should show the server name, is empty too.
Checking the log revealed the game trying to connect to some IP, which is not the one given in the games folder in an XML file.
Checked this behavior against the log on my brothers windows install and that one connected to the IP given on the XML.
It seems to me that this is the problem iam facing. Could someone confirm that to me? If so, maybe somebody could point me in the right direction, how to get the game working with the correct server address.
Thanks in advance.
Greetings
Vralkhir

Re: RoR on Wine/Linux - can't find server
Oh, ok.
For how long has it been down?
Tried it this afternoon ('bout 2-3 hours before my original post)
But still - my log shows another IP than the one working 4 my brother...

Re: RoR on Wine/Linux - can't find server
So, back home and finally able to test this again (seems the servers should be running atm)
This, mythloginserviceconfig.xml, I guess contains the IP-Adress the RoR-Launcher should be using: 87.98.172.235
And this is login.log's output
Can anyone confirm my suspicion, please?

Re: RoR on Wine/Linux - can't find server
Thanks alot xyeppp, thought so
Now i just need to get the client to use that IP - which i have no clue how to accomplish.
Next try is to forward the wrong address to the correct on via IP-tables.

Re: RoR on Wine/Linux - can't find server
Vralkhir, or anyone else that is using linux/wine to run RoR.
May I ask what version of wine, and with what winetricks installs did you get the game running on?
As, I downloaded wine version 1.6.2,(using linux mint 17.1) and the mini launcher crashes every time.
Thanks in advance for any info you provide.

Re: RoR on Wine/Linux - can't find server
Hey there zanthorn!
Just had a look at the forum, trying to find out, if in the meantime anyone made progress with the RoR-Launcher and saw Your post
Regarding wine-versions etc: Iam running wine-staging 1.7.37-1 and wine-mono 4.5.6-1 on an AMD64 arch install (Antergos, to be more exact).
I also tried to get it running with Mono, which I had no success with, because I dont know anything about .NET, which led to various wine-prefixes and wine-tricks settings. Some of which where just wild guesses and it's been a while and a lot is already forgotten, so You most certainly wont need all of those^^
So here we go with my winetricks-settings from the one left prefix (only spaces in between, so You can maybe just copy and paste on terminal):
cmd comctl32ocx comctl32 comdlg32ocx d3dx9* dotnet40 msxml3 msxml4 msxml6 vb6run vcrun2012 winhttp wininet wsh56vb xact_jun2010 xact xmllite
That sure is way more than is needed and some of the above is just bull**** but that one I just tried and it "worked", say the game starts but no server list is shown.
Btw, according to wineHQ (site for WAR appears to not exist anymore) You'll have to use DXTn texture compression feature (at least I think that this was the one, sorry) for the game to not have graphic glitches. The function should already be in wine-staging.
For winecfg library overrides this ones were used: atl110, cmd.exe, comctl32, d3dx9_24 to d3dx9_43, mscoree, msvcp110, msvcr110, msxml3, msxml4, msxml6, vbscript, vcomp, winhttp, wininet, xmllite, binkw32, hashdictionary, icsharpcode.sharp.ziplib, loadperf, mss32, msxml, msxml2, msxml3, msxml4, msxml6, myphandler, patchui, patchui_win;
Same as above: most of those are probably not needed or plain wrong in the first place, but this is what I just tested.
Good luck with Your testing and if any information is missing, just let me know

IF you ever find the solution, could be cool if you could share it with other ppl on forum. I think there are some ppl who would like to use war on linux.
