Mara is the most sought-after because it's the only chance we have of dealing with Slayer and WL damage with Monstro proc. The Mara's morale rework a) was/is bugged and 2) made aoe morale drain harder and 3) was killed off by the changes to morale damage anyway.

Mara got a slight damage boost as it's the only melee class that gets locked out of either AOE or single target damage depending on stance. It's damage wasn't sky high to begin with and it does big numbers in cities due to sustain rather than burst. It mirrors the SW stance system in the worst way possible. Also Monstro proc is overperforming against some things but when mentioned to a dev it was said it's working as intended so we'll take it. It's a good DPS class, but then Choppas are squishy and MSH are way overrated and WE is legit one of the worst picks.

Then you have small scale 6v6 where supposedly Mara isn't that desired and WEs are amazing. It's like some classes are good in some situations but not so good in others, and City WBs isn't the only form of balance in the game.

edit: regarding the SW: the triple crosscut buff was dumb, even ASWs were saying it wasn't needed. As for the rest of it... the entire redesign was weird to begin with. It killed some of the casual/fun buttons (spamming LA or 100ft aoe SFA) and gained... meh. The SW rework seemed more out of ignorance than bias.

Speaking of bias, up until cities most people were screaming the devs were order biased, and most of the nerfs since cities were introduced have been aimed at destro's advantages (real and supposed).

It was a nerf. Previously, order barely had any morales. We couldn't even rotate Distracting Bellows without pumping, now Mara deals slightly more damage, but should be nearly perma Bellowed (-50% damage dealt). Destro morale advantage got weaker.

Same patch morale damage got soft capped. Destro morale self pumps became less important in general. So, even if we consider entire "SW rework" as "SW nerf", then order still is winner of this balance cycle, as SW wasn't even played by Order organized guilds.

Sadly hear it, without special game designer specialized in balancing thing, target "big picture" can be achieved only with "bullseye blind shot" and blow away from the slightest breeze like a card house. And for warhammer scale, where just read all information about all classes with all careers and make simple map in mind or on paper what connects to what can take few days, one person is not enough.

Another moment is game designers never best on their games, but it is not their responsibility. Main responsibility is a create rules that achieving possibility to create some unique experience for players. And most part of balance things is done with warm hugs of excel(for create math model and tune it to what ever they desired), episodes with play tests and work with analytical instruments(god bless SQL, python, etc.). Simple question, why in cereer builder in mirror classes Retribution and Bring It On have all same, but have base damage difference (by 11 to Choppa)? Why it have difference when about a half abilities is doesn't? Why 11? Why GTDC cost 10AP/sec? Is const +25% crit dmg equal to +10% by each 10% health that missing? Person that make any change in balance need to be possible to give solid answer based on the idea of class and math.

Engaging community is a tough way. Small part of players visit game forums and try scale this little part to all players is a big mistake. Need to publish hidden numbers and formulas like damage multiplicators and some stats about game with buckets in different conditions. Work with community, analyse and separate all suggestion and so on.

P.S. i know what is a making games and support live project, and from that, people who supports this project on live, in between their main work and personal life - deserve a lot of respect.

Even if we keep the faction balance out of mind for a sec i guess we can agree that sw ranged specs have been hit with nerfs over the last 4 years like no other class. I see the intention behind the latest changes but I disagree with a lot of it. You should start a suggestion topic instead.

LMAO so indicative of the general tone of these forums and this game.

Mara was always in warbands, and was actually stronger in terms of locking down "order" taking away their morale bomb game (without AM solar flare counter) and creating out of sync morale bombs with ease... this was removed for a slight damage increase so they lost alot of their utility you claim they have... they role was changed a little, but overall destro has lost lots of utlity over time.

Mara is slight counter to SL who have got stronger, but not to BW... (cannot morale bomb or drain like the past Lol)

Mara compared more to WL, than the SW... SW always the posterboy for misfit class ... you know mara morale stopper was suppose to be in game and alot of people was using it despite it being broken for months lol so if that is your idea of a buff/rework replacing something op/strong with something that wastes a tactic slot and never works then i dont know what to tell you, you clearly only see things with blue tinted goggles. Its not only one class or one side that gets nerfs, and nerfs to a class which is always a misfit and lacking proper role doesnt effect your realm balance (in terms of strongest possible setup) just effects the dps a little in broken setups that wont run 2-2-2 to begin with... more SW to join engi and wh and dps am, less and less tanks to go around = problem in archtype balancing of population (player made problem, its not destro fault, its not dev fault, its player choice if they want to main rdps on order but this is part of the consequences if no tanks/support left to guard your rdps who usually just bail and run away from fights in orvr anyways)

Love it. SW gets a buff, then a nerf, followed by another nerf, followed by another nerf, and now gets deleted.

Sucks that this game only has one dev now. would've loved to see some real changes.

Destro is more OP, vocal and efficient at voicing their whines on the forums.

Destro also probably (cannot verify so only opinion) has video evidence of the devs in compromised positions like Yali in Germany 🇩🇪 jersey.

I've been waiting for a bw to say this since 2008.

I mean we can pretend the way they designed the rdps in this game is good, but it never was... was it? My time playing a Magus on live was quite painful.

When the starting point was a class who could instakill most classes while under m2 it was never going to have an easy time. Finding a niche for the SW when you look at the huge amount of roles and playstyles covered by BW and Engi is very difficult.

Mobile st? Bring a BW. Static st? Engi.
